Position Summary
This position will serve as a member of the facilities team reporting to the site Security Manager. The position will perform general security duties as well as supervisory duties to protect the company’s assets and employees relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety and facility issues.
Primary Duties
Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioMerieux’s Quality System.Supervise a team of security technicians including:Arranging work schedules to ensure required coverage. Assigning general and specific dutiesReviewing shift logs and taking appropriate action Holding team mtg. and debriefings regarding special assignments to address site activities.Coordinate with the facilities and HSE teams to provide needed support with miscellaneous tasks as assigned.Provide relevant training to the security technicians to include:Protecting the company’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety and facility issues.Supervise up to seven Security Personal.Observing for signs of crime or disorder and investigate.Securing premises by completing patrols internal and external to the building and document activities in a written log and/or electronic application. The patrols will include building access points, general grounds, and monitoring surveillance equipment.Completing and submitting shift reports by recording observations, information, and surveillance activities.Responding to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees and site visitors.Learn and manage the site badge access control system(s) (Johnson Controls P2000, NDE)Generate access control badges for new employees from an access request spec sheet following verification of proper training and approval from authorized area representative.Terminate badge access as directed by HR or area access directed by authorized area representative. Print reports as requested.Create new badges upon request as old badges become broken, lost or are otherwise disabled. Order and maintain a stock supply of badge cards, photo sheets, and printer ribbon. Work with the badge access control system contractors/suppliers to arrange maintenance, repair and new install as required.Learn and manage the site security camera system (Johnson Controls) Upon request from the Sr. Director of Facilities or designee access the select camera footage for review to assist with incident investigation.Work with the Camera vendor/contractors/suppliers to arrange maintenance, repair, and new install as required.Performs other duties as assigned.Supplemental Data
Contact campus or SLC Police for support.May work nights, swing shift and weekends.Must be capable of working alone and without direct supervision.Work outside patrolling day and night.Not armedWill be required to obtain state certification as an unarmed security guard.May be assigned to work at multiple locations in the Salt Lake Valley
Training, Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.Unarmed Security Guard certification required within 3 months of hire date.Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 3 months of hire date.Minimum 2 years’ experience in building securityPreference will be given to candidates with prior corporate security experience.Previous experience managing badge access control systems a plus but not required.Previous experience managing camera surveillance systems a plus but not required. Supervisory experience a plus but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, etc.Ability to learn the Johnson Controls systems for card reader access and surveillance cameras.Good communication skills (written and verbal)Possess good critical thinking skills - ability to observe/respond to critical situations and determine appropriate response.Possess a valid driver’s licenseClean criminal recordAbility to speak a second language is a plus.Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods.Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and the like.Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.Ability to operate heavy machinery.Ability to adjust or move objects up to 40 pounds in all directions.Must be able to sit and or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.Walk on even and uneven surfaces and stairs.Have fine motor coordination.Ability to pass a respirator fit test and can gown for clean room environments.Ability to gown into clean roomsAbility to move around property exterior and walk on uneven surfaces.Ability to gain certification in first aid, CPR, and AED.Please be aware that recruitment related scams are on the rise.
