The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a security specialist in a developmental capacity, providing information, industrial, personnel, and physical security program functions in support of the organization. Position will be developed to Security Specialist, GG-0080-09. All training must be completed and regulatory requirements met prior to promotion. Responsibilities Performs recurring developmental assignments implementing and administering the Information Security Program for the organization. With assistance from the supervisor or higher graded personnel implements DoD, HQ USAF, and MAJCOM/FOA policies and develops local procedures for the classification and protection of classified national defense and other sensitive information originated or controlled by the organization's activities. In a developmental capacity, administers the Industrial Security Program for the organization. With assistance from the supervisor or higher graded personnel reviews solicitation and contract documents to ensure they include the appropriate security clauses and language. In a developmental capacity, administers the Personnel Security Program for the organization. With assistance from the supervisor or higher graded personnel establishes local procedures for processing requests for security clearances for military and civilian personnel. In a developmental capacity, implements and administers the Physical Security Program. With assistance from the supervisor or higher graded personnel provides program management for the Physical Security Program. In a developmental capacity, assists managers in implementing security education and motivation programs. With assistance from the supervisor or higher graded personnel advises managers of security training requirements, changes in security procedures, publication of security directives, and enhancements designed to increase security awareness. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position is a developmental position and will be filled at the GG-07 level with promotion potential to the GG-11. The individual selected for this position may be promoted to the target level without further competition upon meeting any legal and regulatory requirements. This is a GG-07 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-07 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Entry/Development" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-07 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include knowledge of the principles, policy, procedures and methodology of security administration and skill in applying practical knowledge of applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies. Skills have been gained through experience or education to carry out difficult assignments independently. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. GG-07 - 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of information, industrial, personnel, and physical security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
