Security Operations Specialist

The Position

The opportunity:

Serve as the primary administrative liaison between Roche and the corporate security provider, monitoring the performance of contracted security service while collaborating with the Site Supervisor, Embedded Security Service Technician, and Site Account Manager.

Assess and manage potential threats ensuring the quality and compliance of mitigation strategies and responses are documented in security programs including SOPs, Work Instructions, and Guides 

Owner of the Emergency Response and Life Saving Equipment Programs, improving, developing and implementing response plans, regularly monitoring and assessing workplace security risks, coordinating training and drills, leading and managing emergency response efforts. 

Conduct thorough investigations into security incidents and breaches, tracking and updating the status, documentation and reporting, maintaining historical records for each campus. 

Act as the Security point of contact for all Bay Area employees, promoting a culture of safety and security awareness through communication, training, and engagement, developing and implementing physical and personal security training as necessary ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and company-specific security protocols.

Program Stewardship for Business Continuity Management, developing and implementing strategies for operational resilience under the direction of the Program Owner.

Conduct data analysis to identify metrics, trends, risks, and areas for improvement in the security landscape.

Plan and coordinate security measures for meetings and events, ensuring the safety of participants and property.

Oversee and manage security-related site projects, ensuring effective execution and compliance.

Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and protect sensitive information.

Manage key control systems to ensure secure access to facilities and equipment.

Develop and implement strategies to prevent workplace violence and ensure a safe working environment.

Conducts audits of security programs including badging system, key control, and security guard procedures on a regular basis. Acts as primary representative of the Security function during corporate or regulatory audits.

Who you are:

Has the ability and experience to lead and coordinate emergency response efforts effectively, including managing teams, making decisive decisions under pressure, and taking charge during crisis situations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey clear instructions, updates, and reports effectively with team members, management, external agencies, and stakeholders.

Hands-on experience with security principles, practices, and technologies

Ability to work collaboratively and foster teamwork with various departments, teams, and external partners to ensure a unified and coordinated security services across Roche Bay Area sites.

Technical skills:

Familiarity with emergency management and crisis communication software tools such as OnSolve, Everbridge, or similar platforms used for coordinating responses and communicating with stakeholders during emergencies.

Familiarity with physical security systems such as access control, surveillance systems, and alarms to enhance security measures and coordinate responses during security incidents.

Proficient in the Google Suite especially Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Gmail, Calendar, and Drive.

Proficiency in conducting data analysis to identify trends, risks, and inform security decisions.

Additional requirements:

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Emergency Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Public Safety, Homeland Security, or a similar discipline. 

1-2 years of experience in a related industry such as information technology, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, or another relevant field.

Ability to be onsite daily, rotating at each Roche Bay Area location on a regular basis.

Knowledge and/or experience in any of the following areas is a plus:

Certifications related to this role which may include: Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP).

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $83,900 - 155,9000 USD Annual.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
