SECURITY OFFICER (GS-12) - Title 32
Summary This National Guard position is for a SECURITY OFFICER (GS-12) - Title 32, Position Description Number D2243000 and is part of the WI 115 SFS, Wisconsin Air National Guard. Responsibilities As a SECURITY OFFICER (GS-12) - Title 32, GS-0080-12, you will be the principal advisor to the Wing Commander as the Anti-Terrorism Officer (ATO) and reports to the Mission Support Group Commander as the Defense Force Commander (DFC) with responsibility over the SFS; develops, implements, and manages the wing law enforcement, physical security, wing security, and Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection (AT/FP) programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: O1 through O5 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. National Guard Membership is required. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Required to handle and safeguard sensitive, personal, and/or classified or information covered under privacy act laws in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise. Must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this positions. Maintains weapons qualifications commensurate with a 31PX series Air Force Specialty Code, and be able to be armed, as required, in the performance of duties. This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the unit is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Practical understanding, specialized skills, and fundamental knowledge of the following Series GS-0080 programs: security police; information security; sensitive compartmental information; special security requirements; force protection; anti-terrorism; information protection; security police training, unit deployment, and physical security. Work involves security policies, guiding principles, training requirements, and certifications. Some work in this occupation require expanded security clearances, an extensive knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations and procedures governing a distinct set of operational duties and responsibilities for performing security functions and handling weapons. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-0080-12 position, you must have one year experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Candidate has knowledge of information protection and is able to coordinate with multiple agencies. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
