Security Officer - Graveyard

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

·         Provide the most responsive, knowledgeable and courteous service by protecting not only the property but, also the safety of the guests and team members through observing, reporting and responding.

·         Respond in a calm demeanor for any/all emergency situations that may arise, i.e., bomb threats, medicals, deaths, domestic disturbance, etc.

·         Work various posts, including stationary/sitting posts, mobile/standing posts, driving a company vehicle, or roaming posts on foot.  Posts can be both inside and outside the hotel as directed by Security leadership.

·         Patrol the property on a continual basis assisting guests/team members whenever needed and securing the hotel property against loss and/or damage.

·         Observe all areas inside/outside of the hotel for safety concerns or suspicious circumstances.

·         Exercise good judgment, reason and a calm demeanor when approaching a disgruntled individual. In the event of a confrontation, follow the department policies while remaining calm.

·         In the event of an emergency or similar situation, take control and instruct fellow co-workers, team members and guests as to the best course of action to take; follow direction from security leadership and give instructions to guests. 

·         Complete investigations and subsequent reports by asking questions pertinent to the situation such as; who, what, where, why, how, etc. in order to gather sufficient details to thoroughly satisfy investigation/report requirements.

·         Use a computer report writing system to complete reports, and be able to follow through on any given report, under the supervision of the security shift manager.

·         Make constant contact with both guests and team members to provide optimal service. This includes contact with various hotel departments in an effort to provide/obtain pertinent information needed for guest service, investigations, etc.

·         Maintain professional appearance in alignment with department and company standards.

·         Work with interruptions and perform multiple tasks while remaining collected in high pressure situations.

·         Exhibit courteous, respectful, and appropriate communications and present information in a concise and understandable format.

·         Cooperate with others in the accomplishment of joint tasks and common objectives.

·         Contribute to a positive work environment, foster collaboration and provide a tangible contribution.

·         Meet requirements of regular attendance in order to effectively complete job responsibilities in a timely manner.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

·         Effective communications and professionalism are required when dealing and cooperating with outside agencies such as Police Officials, Fire Department, FBI, Secret Service and Governmental Officials.

·         Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate, both orally and in written format, including the ability to accurately document incidents.

·         Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations in a calm, professional manner.

·         Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

·         Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills.

·         Ability of complex reading, writing, simple math, and complex task completion skills is required.

·         Must have the following skills: clerical, compiling, analyzing, supervising, instructing, driving, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.

·         Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.

·         Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

·         Previous experience in security field or background in military or law enforcement preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES

·         Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License & Alcohol Awareness card.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

·         While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be constantly sitting, standing, walking; occasionally reaching overhead, bending over, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing and frequently balancing during the duration of their shift.

·         Dependent on the assignment of the designated shift the team member must be able to lift/carry and push/pull up to 10lbs or less constantly or up to 100lbs occasionally.

·         Dependent on the assignment of the designated shift the team member may be constantly driving.

·         The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both feet and dominant hand and require frequent light and firm/strong grasping motions. Finger dexterity of both hands will be constantly required.

·         Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

·         Work performed frequently indoors and outdoors alone or with and around others. Team Member will perform work face-to-face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts around computer equipment and other electrical devices. Team Member may be exposed to confined areas, extreme heat or cold, wet and/or humid areas, dirt/dust, moving objects, high places, and slippery surfaces.

·         The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

·         Team Member may be exposed to odor and/or secondhand smoke.
