Security Logistics Coordinator

Perform a variety of administrative activities to include researching, compiling, tracking, and analyzing data and information from multiple sources, preparing correspondence and reports, purchasing supplies, and electronic record keeping.  May utilize various types of software to compile and generate reports, spreadsheets, statistics, timelines, tables, graphs, correspondence and presentations. May recommend processes to enhance workflow. Requires a broad working knowledge of departmental and laboratory policies and practice. This job description documents the general nature of work but is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all activities, duties and responsibilities required of job incumbent. Consequently, job incumbent may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include:

Coordination of all security operations for VIP visitors of the Laboratory.  Ensure seamless and expedited entry in accordance with Laboratory policy and government regulations. Coordinate with the Protective Force personnel all security operations for significant events.  Determines access/egress points, personnel and logistical needs.  Ensures day-to-day Laboratory operations remain uninterrupted through detailed planning and coordination.Provide support to Personnel Security (PERSEC) by facilitating credentialling tasks to include enrollments and activations for Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 Personal Identity Verification (HSPD-12 PIV) card holders.  Serve as a reliable backup when needed for the Site Access Representatives.Maintain a calendar for all VIP and significant event visitors to the Laboratory, including detailed contact information and itineraries. Propose and coordinate enhancements to the Laboratory’s existing VECTOR system for submitting VIP requests and security assistance.Draft specific security plans and Protective Force operational plans to coordinate event security.  Provide oversight into those events, and coordinate protective actions with key personnel.Serves as the primary liaison with the Communications and Public Affairs Division, Laboratory hosts, Protective Force and private/government protection details for the intake of VIP personnel.Track, trend, and analyze VIP and Significant Event related activity to be used to improve customer service, site access and security functions.Remain knowledgeable of Department of Energy orders surrounding site access, prohibited articles, and Unclassified Foreign Visits and Assignments. Have knowledge of daily duties as a Site Access Representative as backup.Have knowledge and training as PerSec Activator/Registrar.Handle HSPD12 appointments, including enrollments, card updates, PIN resets, and card pickups as needed.

Position Requirements

To perform the essential functions of this position successful applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, which is required to comply with federal regulations and contract.Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 2 level HSPD12 PIV badge.Strong oral and written communication skills are required.  Must be able to communicate and present effectively in the presence of large groups, as well as with the highest levels of Laboratory management. Relatable experience in providing continuous customer service at a high levelStrong emphasis on time management, organizational skills, and prioritization of workloadAbility to gather, analyze and organize information from a variety of resources and databasesConsiderable knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including database, spreadsheet and word processing applications.Passion for the mission of the Lab.Ability to model Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.

The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level (PA2 or PA3) dependent upon depth and breadth of relevant knowledge and skills brought to the position, as well as the amount of relevant experience. The requirements of the various levels are as follows:

PA2 Level: Bachelor’s and 2+ years of experience or equivalent. The expected pay range for this level is $58,172-$91,780.PA3 Level: Bachelor’s and 4+ years of experience or equivalent. The expected pay range for this level is $73,793-$116,445.

The expected hiring range for this position is $58,172.00 - $90,747.54.
