SUMMARY
This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Safety/Security for assigned shift of the security department. Its responsibility is for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, patients, and all visitors.
The Security Officer is responsible for policing hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Assists staff with unruly visitors and patients, alleviates facility safety and environmental concerns.

ATTRIBUTES
• Associate Degree in Criminal Justice with 2 years prior experience preferred.
• NYS Security Guard License preferred – to be attained within six months of hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Standing for long periods of time depending on shift, 8, 10, or 12 hours.
• Will be required to work non-standard shifts. (Weekends, evenings, swing shift, overnights, or some combination of both).
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Walking, stooping, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and ladders.
• Lifting: Heavy is considered lifting 100 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
