Job Description

The Section Ventilation Officer is responsible for the maintenance of ventilation and occupational hygiene systems and to provide the immediate supervisor with information to ensure a safe and healthy work environment

You will be tasked with performing the following activities.

Ensure that legal requirements, group standards and policies are adhered toMaintain Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene strategies and systemsConduct risk assessments and participate in auditsConducts daily ventilation and occupational hygiene inspections and records findingsReport findings and recommend appropriate interventionsManagement of resources and assetsAssist in short term ventilation and occupational hygiene planningContribute to the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene Department and those of the business area

This role is a C5 reporting to the Shaft Ventilation Engineer.

QualificationsGrade 12Elementary certificate in Mine Environmental Control/ Chamber of Mines Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental ControlWorking towards Advanced Certification in Mine Environmental Control will be advantageous

Experience

Experience of at least 2 years in the Mining and / or Refining environmentPractical experience of at least 5 years in the Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene Field

Skills and Knowledge

Computer literate in MS Office, SAP, and other specialised technical programsAssociated member – Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa
