Detailed roles & responsibilities:

 

Project Management:

This role demands a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Active participation from Project Conceptualization to commissioning and technical support in the Equipment Project Engineering for terminal to ensure the long-term benefit for Port operation both in CAPEX & OPEX. Ensuring high technology, high quality, safety, reliability, efficiency and availability of the Equipment. Accountable for Equipment Mechanical system testing and commissioning for the Port equipment like Container crane, Yard crane, Coal handling Equipment like Ship loader/unloader, stacker Reclaimer at different port vertical sites.  Engineering deliverable approval and interface management, testing - commissioning of Mechanical system of the terminal equipment according to the terminal project requirement and long-term shared goal of the team. Maintain value engineering, Innovation, development, processes, cross functional interface, safety and monitoring of work progress for completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.

 

Inspection and Quality Assurance:

Perform visual and dimensional inspections during offloading and assembly to detect any potential damages or deviations. Ensure that all equipment and components meet the required quality and performance standards as per technical specification and guidelines.

 

Testing and Commissioning:

Oversee the mechanical testing of port equipment, including load tests and functionality checks. Ensure proper alignment, lubrication, and calibration of mechanical systems as part of the commissioning process.

 

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

Identify and address mechanical issues during testing and commissioning, working collaboratively with vendors and technical teams. Implement corrective actions to resolve discrepancies and optimize equipment performance.

 

Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare detailed reports documenting the progress of offloading, assembly, and commissioning activities. Maintain accurate records of test results, inspections, and equipment performance.

 

Coordination with Stakeholders:

Liaise with project managers, vendors, and site teams to align mechanical engineering activities with project objectives. Provide regular updates on the status of mechanical systems and project milestones.

 

Compliance with Safety and Standards:

Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate hazards during offloading, assembly, and commissioning.

 

Training and Handover:

Provide training to site personnel on the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems in port equipment. Ensure a smooth handover of commissioned equipment, including manuals and maintenance schedules.

 

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process optimization and machine performance and provide feedback for future commissioning projects. Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in mechanical engineering to enhance operational efficiency.

 

Work Exposure:

Shall have exposure for large equipment project including offloading, testing and commissioning, Port Mechanical Engineering, offloading procedure, Hands-on work experience in trouble shooting of mechanical defects of Port Equipment, and execution of terminal equipment projects. Mechanical system for Port Equipment projects which includes commissioning, testing and troubleshooting of STS, RTGC, Bus bar System, RMGC, GSU, BWSR, Reach stackers used in container terminal and Bulk material handling system. Excellent Communication skills and computer skills like; MS office, Auto Cad, Power point presentation etc.

 

Technical Skills:

Proficient in Mechanical system testing and commissioning such as Hydraulic system, Hydro-Mechanical system, pneumatic system, rotary equipment, or similar. Hands-on working experience with equipment alignment, hydraulic loop configuration, crane commissioning. Strong understanding of inspection and testing protocols. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, project management abilities, and team co-ordination.

Ability of selecting High and futuristic technology system for port equipment operations.

B.E. / B.Tech with Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience, Expertise in Port terminal cranes and commissioning.  Working in such an organization where their role is working with global stockholders, Port terminal and hands on testing and commissioning experience in international projects. Hands on experience managing the interfaces with cross functional department and terminal operating system.      Knowledge of basic Electrical system, operation and highest safety procedure are added advantages in cranes and container terminal.
