QUALIFICATIONS:Eligible for Monroe County Civil Service Clerk II (competitive title).(Must have taken exam and be on the current eligibility list or hold the Office Clerk II title)
SALARY RANGE:$17.34-$24.00 per hour (IESA Schedule C)

JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPAL’S SECRETARY DAKE SCHOOL
Job Summary:
Performs a wide variety of secretarial functions in the office of the Principal of Dake School. Work requires a knowledge of school methods and procedures and requires judgement and initiative in order to effectively handle the wide variety of situations which arise daily.
Job Duties:
+ Operate computer and run multiple software programs.
+ Provide secretarial support to principal.
+ Schedule and maintain principal’s calendar.
+ Assist and interact with staff, students and visitors in the main office.
+ Field telephone inquiries from parents and/or members of the community regarding school related issues and policies and respond as appropriate.
+ Using AESOP coordinates and arrange for substitutes (clerical, paraprofessionals, and teachers).
+ Maintain daily record of staff attendance and input information into the computer to complete payroll process.
+ Publish monthly newsletters.
+ Treasurer of Extra-Curricular Student Activity Accounts; takes care of all banking and accounting related functions.
+ Prepare monthly Treasurer reports and quarterly reports of Extra-Curricular Accounts for audit by independent agency.
+ Inventory, order and arrange payment for general office and educational supplies for the building.
+ Process purchase orders and arranges for payment of specific supplies and educational material for all departments in Dake.
+ Receive monies and make deposits to District General Fund.
+ Compile information for budget process
+ Coordinates and prepares for the yearly Student Awards Assembly.
+ Keep accurate records of student grade information for awards recognition.
+ Prepare certificates and honor roll letters, send home to parents and prepare list for Irondequoit Press.
+ Responsible for distribution and accountability of buildings keys.
+ Distribute Planning Team minutes Cabinet agendas, and other correspondence related to these advisory groups.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Per Civil Service - Clerk II with typing:
Full performance knowledges, skills, abilities and personal characteristics: Good knowledge of office terminology, practices, procedures, routines and equipment; good knowledge of business arithmetic and English; good knowledge of the techniques involved in record keeping; good knowledge of the techniques involved in establishing and maintaining a filing system; skill in accurately keyboarding at 40 words per minute; ability to conduct searches for information from various sources; ability to work with forms; ability to prepare written communication, arithmetic and standard written reports; ability to operate office machines such as the electronic work station, adding machine, calculator, photo copier and facsimile machine; ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions; ability to express oneself clearly; ability to readily acquire familiarity with departmental organization, functions, laws, policies and regulations; ability to deal with the public; good judgment in solving relatively complex clerical problems; initiative; resourcefulness; tact; courtesy; integrity; health commensurate with the demands of the position.
