Position Summary: Secondary Program Director for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment will assist the Executive Director of Learning and Results and Executive Director of Student and Family Supports to enhance learning through improved support to the schools in the DCSD. The Secondary Program Director will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support improvement efforts and build capacity of our instructional leaders to implement the Growing Excellence Plan. Duties & Responsibilities:(Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships) Essential Functions to include programming and services at the Secondary Level Work closely with Administrators, Specialists, and classroom teachers in the development and implementation of rigorous curriculum, evidence-based instruction, assessment and reporting of learning. + Coordinates core and non-core programs (i.e… special education, CTE, online learning, postsecondary indicators, course guide development, ICAP). + Leads and supports identification and implementation of secondary curricular resources and instructional practices. + Coordinates transition process from elementary to middle school and middle school to high school. + Monitors implementation of District Growing Excellence Plan through data collection and analysis to inform decisions within the MTSS framework. + Visits secondary schools regularly to build relationships and improve communication from the district level. + Organize and facilitate postsecondary assessments such as FAFSA, ACT, WorkKeys, etc. + Provides training, consultation, and support to administrators, teachers, and school-based leadership teams to facilitate implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) at the district and school levels. + Provides ongoing support to include observation and feedback, modeling, interpreting data and other supportive assistance necessary to implement a Multi-Tiered System of Supports. + Monitors the fidelity of implementation of MTSS at the school level including both academic and behavior support systems. + Lead design of an intervention system at the secondary level that would include planning, implementing, and integrating services for student needs. + Identifies and implements an effective data management system for MTSS at the district level and supports the implementation of data systems in the building, including Early Warning System data. + Coordinates ongoing and sustained professional development for all staff in order to achieve educator proficiency with effective Growing Excellence Plans + In coordination and collaboration with Special Education, provides leadership to the site special education teams on matters related to program changes and professional development needs. + Monitors process to ensure compliance and adherence to district procedures, state guidelines, and federal regulations. + Provide leadership to ensure student needs are met through a comprehensive continuum of support. + Prepares local, state, and federal reports as needed. + Communicates with parents and the community on matters relating to secondary educational programs. Required Minimum Qualifications: + Master’s degree in Educational Leadership/Administration from an accredited educational institution + Iowa Evaluator License + Iowa Professional Administrator License + Experience leading and managing a team of direct reports + Experience with developing and implementing budgets + Experience with teaching techniques, instructional design, curriculum development and assessment design at the secondary level + Experience addressing the changing trends in secondary programming + Current knowledge of best practices in secondary education and special education + Extensive knowledge, experience and implementation of MTSS is required Desired Qualifications: + Secondary administrator experience preferred + Proven expertise in taking the initiative to accomplish projects + Strong analytical skills + Demonstrated record of effective management and communication strategies. + Effective oral and written communication skills Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV ?
