GENERAL FUNCTION:

Assist in the execution of moderately complex financial analysis of key business areas within the Bancorp. Complete assigned, periodic SEC filings through independent research of historical filings, gathering information from lines of business and other finance areas to understand how the business internally has changed, and researching any new rules or regulations or required disclosures necessary for the filing. Represent SEC reporting in various accounting and finance initiatives. Serve as financial leader to Fifth Third Bancorp lines of business and/or external agencies to understand and meet the information needs required to sustain growth. Focus on providing value-added analysis and recommendations to support business growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESĀ AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Understand and assist in the identification of key business factors (both internal and external) and accounting issues that impact the preparation of SEC filings.Continue to develop knowledge base to keep current on existing and emerging issues in both.accounting and banking; apply this knowledge to assist in completing required SEC filings. Help eliminate or mitigate observed risks by assisting in identifying areas of weakness in processes performed including identification of the most efficient method of performing a process and what the requirements per the filing are compared to what is being reported. Work with Reporting Manager and seniors to understand current process and background of what is currently in place.Capable of completing work assignments independently or with minimal supervision/guidance on complex issues.Assist in the preparation of SEC filings (10-Q, Annual Report, 10-K, 11K's and other financial statements) and financial analysis.Prepare work papers to support financial disclosures in the MD&A as well as financial statements and notes to financial statements.Analyze peer disclosures and identify reporting trends and areas of improvement.Perform maintenance on existing schedules and reports for changes to information. Assist in ensuring proper Sarbanes Oxley documentation in connection with SEC filings and perform Sarbanes Oxley testing for other areas.Prepare policy and procedure documents that substantiate and support the SEC Reporting functions.Participate in New General Ledger Account meetings to ensure general ledger infrastructure and chart of accounts supports SEC reporting needs.Monitor monthly internal financial statements and assist in the identification and resolution of related accounting and presentation issues.Assist with implementation and recurring compliance of various technical accounting standards.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree required.Thorough knowledge of GAAP preferred.CPA preferred, at a minimum should be actively pursuing a professional certification.3-5 years of accounting or finance related experience in industry or public accounting.Computer/Technical: Proficient with MS-Windows and other related PC applications.Possess the desire and ability to learn and become proficient in new systems quickly (TM1, Advanced Excel, Clarity, Business Objects and servicing systems).This position requires excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills necessary tointeract with personnel ranging from clerical staff to more senior management.Excellent written and oral communication skills required.Demonstrated proficiency in performance measurement tools and technology.Capable of prioritizing and organizing work to meet deadlines.Ability to work both individually and as a member of a team.Must be able to adjust to multiple demands, shifting responsibilities and rapid change.Ability to maintain professional composure in a dynamic work environment that often requires management/completion of multiple tasks.Demonstrate sound judgment as well as apply logical/critical thought processes.
