**Description**
The Cardiovascular-Renal-Metabolic Diseases Research (CRMDR) team in Ridgefield CT has delivered 12 first-in-class therapeutics into clinical development in the last decade in disease areas spanning from CKD to MASH to portal hypertension. In the coming decade, our ambition will take us into new realms of cardiovascular-renal-metabolic diseases where innovative therapies are needed. The Cardiovascular-Renal-Metabolic Diseases Research (CRMDR) team is offering a highly motivated Scientist II/III to join the Histology Laboratory located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. The CRMDR Histology Laboratory performs cutting-edge antibody and nucleic acid-based tissue assays to identify, characterize and validate drug targets for cardiometabolic and renal indications. By applying fluorescent high-multiplex and brightfield assays in combination with state-of-the-art digital pathology technologies, the CRMDR histology team is pushing the boundaries of spatial biology in pharmaceutical research.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Demonstrates proficiency in embedding, microtome sectioning and coverslipping.
+ Optimizes, troubleshoots, and performs tissue-based assays (IHC/ISH) with minimal supervision using the Leica Bond Rx or similar automated platforms.
+ Scans and QCs slides in brightfield and fluorescent mode.
+ Performs digital image quantification with Halo and/or Visiopharm including subsequent statistical analysis.
+ Represents histology group in project team meetings, interprets results, provides guidance for follow-up experiments while strictly adhering to timelines.
+ Demonstrates comprehension of the biological context, experimental rational for histology studies, and willingness to study relevant scientific literature.
+ Proposes new experiments/technologies relevant to spatial biology and demonstrates overall understanding of drug discovery/development process.
+ Independently manages multiple overlapping work assignments with frequently changing priorities.
+ Effectively communicates and presents results in the context of team and department goals both orally and in writing.
+ Strictly adheres to company policy regarding data integrity and record keeping.
+ Strictly follows corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance policies.
+ Complies with all local and federal regulations. Maintains a clean and organized work area.
**Requirements**
+ Histology research experience is required.
+ Experience with IHC and/or ISH is required.
+ Ability to autonomously operate complex laboratory equipment is required.
+ Expertise in image analysis (Halo/Visiopharm) is preferred.
+ Proficient in delivering presentations and clearly communicating results.
+ Demonstrates concise and accurate reporting of experimental data and interpretation thereof.
+ Proven problem-solving ability.
+ Appropriate level of understanding of applicable local and federal regulations.
**Scientist II:**
+ Bachelor's Degree with over 3 years of experience in a related scientific discipline, or a Master's Degree in a related scientific discipline, or equivalent experience in the field.
**Scientist III:**
+ Master´s Degree with 3+ years experience in related scientific discipline or Bachelor´s Degree with 7+ years experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
**Compensation:**
This position, Scientist II, offers a base salary typically between $75,000.00 and $122,000.00.
