The PPD clinical research business of Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Scientist II for our Middleton, Wisconsin Bioanalytical team. This is a first shift Monday to Friday position with flexible start and stop times conducting assay validation and sample analysis on biological matrices (blood, urine, plasma) for pharmaceutical products in development. This position offers the opportunity to use high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LCMS) and other advanced lab techniques in our state-of-the-art laboratory.

A day in the Life:Performs a variety of complex sample preparation and analysis proceduresWorks with multiple functional groups to meet business needsPlans and organizes work with periodic supervisionSets up and maintains analytical instrumentationTrains on routine operation, maintenance and theory of analytical instrumentation, SOPs, and regulatory procedures and guidelinesEnsures QA findings are addressed appropriatelyProvides assistance and training to other team membersPerforms work assignments accurately, and in a timely and safe mannerReviews, interprets, and analyzes data for technical, quality and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)Keys to Success:Education:Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as biology, biochemistry, immunology, chemistry, molecular biology or similarExperience:Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years’) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Support testing and analysis in the immunochemistry and vaccine department (run assays, prepare samples, lab documentation)Manual dexterity (pipetting, operate lab equipment, etc.)Experience performing immunoassays, ELISA or similar testingCommunicate effectively and follow detailed written and verbal instruction.Cooperate with coworkers within an organized team environment or work alone with supervision.Manage time effectively to complete assignments in expected time frame.Maintain a laboratory notebook and complete all documentation with clear and accurate language and according to the SOP.Proficient in the use of analytical instrumentation, skills in separation science techniques are desired.Proficient in sample extraction procedures.Ability to plan, schedule and carry out work for successful project completion.Proficient in the operation of the computer and data acquisition programs.Positive attitude and ability to work well with others.Ability to write protocols and reports with minimum supervisionWork Environment:Thermo Fisher Scientific values the health and wellbeing of our employees.
