SBU: Advanced Performance Materials

Location: Mechelen, Belgium

From aerospace and automotive to medical and semiconductor applications, a wide range of industries and substrates benefit from the versatility of Teflon™ coatings. We are seeking a Scientist to join our growing Teflon™ coatings team! This position will support the development of our global product lines and report directly to the Global Technology Manager at our location in Mechelen, Belgium.

What You’ll Do

As a key player in our Teflon™ coatings team, you will:

Innovate by developing new products and applications for our customers and growth projects including overseeing lab work to support performance evaluation and value proposition.Lead and coach a team of laboratory technicians and ensure lab capabilities are aligned with future market trends. Work as a global technical lead together with cross-functional partners on the strategy for the product lines: assessing risks, opportunities, potential impact and raw material selection.Travel to key customers and end-users to understand market developments and create new and improved solutions.Provide product training, technical support and market insights to customers, distributors, internal sales and marketing team members.Proactively improve understanding of global regulatory requirements affecting existing raw materials, technologies and markets.Follow all laboratory quality and safety standards, demonstrating a commitment to continuous safety improvement and model good safety behaviors.

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for a curious, ambitious, and collaborative team member with:

Education: Master/PhD in coatings, polymer science, chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related field.Expertise: Experience with coatings design, formulation and testing is preferred. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus; other European languages are a bonus. Flexibility: Ability to work on-site in Mechelen, Belgium and a willingness to travel occasionally.Drive to Innovate: A passion for learning and applying new technologies, materials, and methods.Problem-Solving Skills: Confidence to tackle challenges with creativity and focus.
