Site Name: Belgium-Wavre Posted Date: Feb 14 2025 Job purpose: The MSAT-A Characterization Hub Lead defines and drives the analytical characterization (non-routine testing) of GSK products (Vaccines, Biopharm) to support process development, comparability studies, investigations/remediations and innovations in line with projects / business priorities. The team is seeking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist to lead and establish mass spectrometry expertise within our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in integrating cutting-edge MS methods for the analysis of Host Cell Proteins, post-translational modifications, and other relevant applications. This position offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art LC-MS systems and to contribute to both routine testing and complex investigations. Your responsibilities: · You develop and implement MS-methods for various analytical applications, including but not limited to HCP profiling, MetOx analysis, and aspartate isomerization. · You set up MS workflows using existing instruments or shared resources across different laboratories. · You lead collaborations for method integration and troubleshooting, including partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. · You support analytical investigations, including root cause analysis, in collaboration with cross-functional teams. · You play a key role in establishing a new MS testing environment, including evaluating and implementing new instrumentation. · You mentor and train team members in mass spectrometry techniques, ensuring knowledge transfer and capability development. · You maintain a strong focus on regulatory compliance, aligning with ICH Q6B guidelines and other regulatory standards. · You support analytical method development in physico-chemistry (e.g. chromatography). Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: · PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field, with a strong focus on mass spectrometry. A Master’s degree with significant industry experience will also be considered. · Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in LC-MS method development and troubleshooting, preferably in the biopharmaceutical or vaccine industry. · Expertise in protein analysis, including post-translational modifications, impurities (e.g., HCPs), and stability studies. · Familiarity with analytical method validation. · Proven track record of setting up and managing mass spectrometry platforms and environments. · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on complex investigations. · Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior staff. · Experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry platforms (e.g., QTOF, Orbitrap) and advanced techniques such as ion mobility or PASEF. · Experience in budgeting and procurement for analytical instrumentation. · Familiarity with data analysis tools and software, including Byos, Mascot, Chromeleon, and other LC-MS processing tools. · Excellent organization and communication skills in French and English · High learning agility · Autonomous, resilient with an execution focus · Flexibility, tenacity, curiosity and strong logical approach to problem solving · Analytical, logical thought process with strong information organisation/management skills. · Effective time management, ability to clearly identify priorities and manage multiple tasks. · Ability to work in a team environment under high pressure situations · Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills · Good technical writing and teaching skills; good stage presence for public speaking. · Good Communication, ability to communicate complex information both orally and in writing. · Ability to listen effectively. · Ability to drive change. · Ability to respond quickly and reliably to customer needs. #Li-GSK #GSKVaccines If you have a disability and require assistance during the course of the selection process, you will have the opportunity to let us know what specific assistance you require in order to make suitable arrangements.
