School Counselor
Health Advocates Network is seeking a **School Counselor** to work at a Facility in **Baltimore, MD.** This is a registry position with our company. **Pay Rate:** $50 / hour *W2 **Shift Details:** + Monday through Friday 8am-4pm **Job Summary:** The School Counselor will provide comprehensive counseling services to students in grades to foster their academic, social, and emotional development. The counselor will collaborate with educators, parents, and community resources to create a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes student success. This position requires a commitment to equity and inclusion, as well as a passion for helping students navigate their educational journey. **Key Responsibilities:** - Academic Counseling: - Assist students in developing academic goals and provide strategies for achieving them. - Monitor student progress and provide interventions for those at risk of academic failure. - Coordinate and implement academic support programs, workshops, and resources. - Social and Emotional Support: - Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns. - Implement programs to promote mental health awareness, conflict resolution, and resilience. - Assist students in developing coping skills and strategies to manage stress and anxiety. - Career Guidance: - Guide students in exploring career options and post-secondary education opportunities. - Conduct workshops on college readiness, job search skills, and resume writing. - Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to provide internship and job shadowing opportunities. - Collaboration and Communication: - Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student needs. - Participate in school committees and contribute to the development of school policies. - Provide training and resources to staff on student mental health and wellness topics. - Crisis Intervention: - Respond to student crises and provide immediate support as needed. - Collaborate with community agencies and mental health professionals to ensure students receive appropriate services. - Record Keeping and Reporting: - Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with state and federal regulations. - Monitor and report on student progress and program effectiveness. **Qualifications:** - Education: Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution. - Certification: Valid Maryland State certification as a School Counselor. - Experience: Previous experience in a school setting preferred but not required. - Skills: - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. - Knowledge of counseling theories, practices, and ethical standards. - Proficient in using technology for data management and communication. **Personal Attributes:** - Compassionate and empathetic with a strong desire to support student growth. - Culturally competent and committed to promoting equity and inclusion. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion.
