Position Summary:
This Crude Oil Scheduler position is located at Marathon Petroleum Company’s corporate headquarters in Findlay, OH. The selected candidate will work with a team of schedulers, crude oil traders and analysts to optimize crude oil supply throughout MPC’s Midwest refining system and commercial businesses. This scheduling role will be responsible for managing pipeline, rail, truck, and waterborne movements to various destinations such as refineries, terminals and market centers. This successful candidate will also interact heavily with numerous external business partners such as pipeline companies, crude oil producers, crude oil trading companies and the like. This role will work within the Global Feedstocks Value Chain (GFVC) team and will provide an increased understanding of logistic fundamentals of crude oil supply while performing a complex and critical function to the enterprise. This commercial Crude Oil Scheduler position should be viewed as a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual that has a strong aptitude and a keen interest in a career within the Commercial organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedules movements via various distribution channels through use of proprietary and third-party scheduling systems. Responds to unexpected events making contingency arrangements to minimize disruption of product supply. Ensures relevant data is captured timely and accurately.
Identifies and communicates commercial/operational opportunities. Focuses continuously on increasing transportation efficiency while minimizing per-barrel transportation costs. Works with customers and suppliers to maintain accurate forecast on volume requirements/movements.
Communicates and verifies planned movements and status with traders, optimizers, counterparties, producers, marketers, terminals, vessels, and pipelines. Establishes and sustains industry relationships pertaining to supply, transportation, and logistical issues.
Provides timely and accurate inventory position information to traders and refinery feedstock coordinators.
Works closely with risk and accounting departments to ensure the proper positions and movements are accurately captured and recorded.
Be available to react to dynamic operations, at times, outside of core business hours.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required or five (5) years of related experience in lieu.
Two (2) or more years of industry-related experience required.
