Sales Engineer, Data Products

 

IDC is seeking a Sales Engineer to focus on business development and new sales of the next generation of IDC’s industry-leading data products. The Sales Engineer is a key technical advisor and product advocate, responsible for driving sales and market share by providing top-tier technical expertise to customers. This role involves working closely with the sales team to identify customer needs, develop appropriate solutions, and ensure a seamless integration of company products and services.

Responsibilities Act as a technical resource for the sales team, providing detailed product and application knowledge.Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and technical training for customers and internal teams.Respond to customer inquiries, offering technical guidance and solutions.Collaborate with the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities.Prepare and deliver technical proposals and presentations to customers.Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their technical requirements and business objectives.Provide post-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction and successful product implementation.Gather and communicate customer feedback to improve product offerings and service quality.Stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and advancements in technology.Contribute to the development of new products and features by providing customer insights and technical feedback.Participate in trade shows, conferences, and other industry events to promote products and network with potential customers.Coordinate with engineering and product development teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products and solutions.Manage technical aspects of customer projects, including planning, implementation, and troubleshooting.Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting guides.Ensure all customer interactions and technical issues are documented in the CRM system. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or related field).  7+ years of experience in a client facing role such as Pre-Sales Engineer, Implementations, Technical Solutions, in a related industry. (with preference for experience with data solutions) Excellent presentation and communication skills with experience presenting technical concepts and/or software to senior level business users.Strong proficiency in CRM and Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and modelling.Strong technical knowledge and ability to learn new technologies quickly.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Sales Professional, PMP) are a plus.Travel: Willingness to travel as required up to 15%Customer-oriented approach with a focus on building lasting relationships.High level of initiative and self-motivation.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to translate complex technical information into understandable terms for diverse audiences.This role can be based out of our Needham, MA office or an approved  U.S. remote location.

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $117,800 and $130,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
