Sales Associate - (Hybrid)

This position is responsible for selling to new and existing accounts representing non-profit, children’s services organizations to drive books sales in the Premium Literacy channel within Special Markets. This role also has departmental responsibilities, provides support to a focused team selling Penguin Random House’s children’s book lines across the breadth of our account base. The position reports to the Vice-President, Director of Premium Literacy Sales.
 

Specific responsibilities include:

 

Sales responsibility for robust roster of national literacy-focused accounts with mature businesses. Responds to all general inquiries received into the department from various internal sources; opens new accounts; directs customer interaction, supports new and existing customers with pricing, ordering details, and tracking; submits orders internally with all required follow up. Executes sales outreach including the creation of catalogues, sales pieces, titles grids and digital email blasts using various digital tools to drive new business. Curates and maintains title lists to meet ad-hoc title needs across all opportunities. Researches and builds P&Ls to assess potential printing deals. Processes orders from stock and executes exclusive printings. Generally, supports team of sales reps with literacy-focused accounts on the following: customer sampling needs; PO and customer-specific print order internal routing process; order tracking through various internal teams; customer presentations; generating presentations docs and needed materials; sales pitches; contact sourcing; runs ad-hoc reports as needed Forecasts monthly and annual sales revenue targets using sales data Works across multiple departments within Penguin Random House including Publishing Offices, Inventory Management, Production, Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales Operations, Customer Service, and Credit. Meeting prep: ranges from creating presentations to gathering materials (digital & physical); generating Edelweiss collections; etc. Generates weekly sales reports and annual full-year recaps Attends regular in-house sales presentations; occasional on/off-site customer sale meetings; presents at key account meetings as needed

Minimum of 2 years of prior sales experience; publishing sales/book retail experience preferred; includes direct communication with or in support of accounts Highly organized with ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities across a heavy workload Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proactive with strong follow-up skills · Excellent verbal and written communication skills Some travel required Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; knowledge of MS Teams a plus Interest in the publishing industry, book sales, and children’s literacy

Preferred Qualifications, if any:

 

Knowledge of SAP and Edelweiss is a plus Knowledge of Salesforce or similar database management software is a plus High interest in children’s book sales

 

This is a hybrid position with 2-3 days in-office responsibilities, we will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).  (Possible remote)

 

Salary for this position is $56,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
