Sales & Applications Engineer

MEA Projects, a Division of Howden Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for an experienced Applications Engineer to primarily focus on business development for Howden’s/Chart Industries' range of compression solutions within wastewater, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, and industrial sectors. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities and building relationships with clients, as well as technical expertise to support project execution. This dual-focus position combines Business development and sales with process and project engineering responsibilities to ensure successful project outcomes. What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

Business Development:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the wastewater, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, and industrial markets.

Engage in consultative sales to understand client needs and recommend appropriate compression solutions.

Proposals and Tendering:

Preparing detailed tenders and proposals for clients.

Lead and supply direct engineering input to high profile tenders to maximize the technical attractiveness to prospective clients and to ensure that the tenders comply with technical requirements.

Coordinate tenders, engineering and design work with the local and global business units and convene review meetings with same to ensure that designs are completed accurately and on time.

Create accurate, organized, and detailed costing of the proposed systems (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Control and Instrumentation).

Provide detailed technical presentations to clients to address their issues & promote company equipment, products, systems, and projects.

Negotiations on conditions of contract and commercial terms and conditions. Ensure that all contracts are negotiated and entered into adhere and comply with company policies and procedures manual in order to ensure authority levels are maintained and minimize contract risk

Technical Design and Engineering

Process and Mechanical Engineering Design, including development of P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical designs, etc.

Generating process descriptions, control philosophies and functional design specifications.

Commissioning of new plants to ensure it meets customer expectations and conducted in accordance with an agreed timeframe.

Ensure implementation of company standards and industry and statutory codes in all designs

Generate feasibility design reports.

Your Education Should Be…

Tertiary qualification in Engineering, the candidate should have a B.Eng degree (Mechanical or Chemical)

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require… Your Professional Experience Should Be… Candidate must have a strong knowledge of thermodynamic principles with mass and energy balance calculations Candidate must have a strong background and knowledge of compression systems. Strategic approach to business opportunities. Exposure in high value Turnkey multi-disciplinary projects will be advantageous. Familiar with international standards, codes and specifications such as ASME, API, TEMA, PED, ASHRAE, EN and ISO will be an advantage Should be willing to learn from subject experts and document and apply knowledge.
