SUMMARY

The Safety Specialist provides support and recommendations to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials. 

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Provides support and recommendations to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials. Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future. Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations. Visit company jobsites, conduct workplace inspections Investigate all workplace injuries and vehicle Incident Conduct training Orientation New Employee Unique Project Obligations Hazard Specific – Company specific training, other identified non-routine training such as; Confined Space, Fall Protection, Silica, etc... Communicate with customers regarding site specific safety requirements Participate in customer site meetings and safety walks Develop and update safety procedures for customer and regulatory compliance Coordinate OSHA, EPA and MSHA regulatory compliance efforts. Participate in site inspections, hearings, and implementation of required corrective actions Support Fleet Management as required Track vehicle inspections Review Driver Qualifications Close out poor driving notifications Support Business Continuity efforts as assigned

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

3-5 years of experience in a professional safety role working in the Construction Industry. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in safety management or relevant field is preferred. Ability to Achieve BCSP Safety Certification (CHST, OHST, STS, etc) Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs. Independent self-starter with experience operating independently with little day-to-day supervision. Ability to prioritize and manage competing needs across a decentralized organization. Strong interpersonal, management, communication, writing, and organizational skills. Frequent travel to project field sites required.
