Safety Specialist
Job Title: Safety SpecialistJob Description Our client has an immediate opportunity for a Safety Specialist. This position is available due to current project demands in Phoenix. The Safety Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of multiple construction projects. Responsibilities + Support multiple construction projects through design, build, and commissioning. + Provide field safety oversight of work activities on construction sites and future state facilities. + Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal health and safety regulations. + Develop, implement, and maintain policies, plans, and procedures related to construction safety. + Conduct and oversee contractor safety reviews and prerequisite processes for site access. + Partner on equipment safety transfer of risk processes for current and upcoming projects. + Maintain strong communication between all organizations. + Assist in creating and standardizing policies to minimize job-related hazards. + Ensure all contractor management EHS protocols and procedures are adhered to on project sites. + Lead and document incident investigations to determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA). + Lead and review the hazard analysis program and utilization of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)/Pre-Task Planning (PTP) tools. + Perform frequent job-site safety inspections and procedural audits, taking immediate action when necessary. Essential Skills + At least 3 years of construction safety experience. + OSHA 500 certification. + Strong presentation skills and ability to regularly lead safety meetings and trainings. + Experience with QA audits. + Proficient in Microsoft Word. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Substation experience or experience in the public utility industry (training available if needed). + Experience in heavy civil projects is highly desirable. + NFPA70 certification. Work Environment This role will be mostly field-based, with about 75% of the time spent in the field and 25% in the office. During the first 6 months, the candidate will work out of the Phoenix office for onboarding and on-the-job training. Travel will depend on workload after this period. The candidate will receive a company vehicle. No immediate travel outside of Phoenix is required, but opportunities may arise in the future.
