Job Summary: The seasonal Safety Officer at Grand Canyon Railway is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the property, guests, and employees while following exceptional guest service standards for all during high-volume special events train schedules. Responsibilities Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement, Core Values, and cultural Pillars. Ensures the safety and security of Grand Canyon Railway passengers and employees during The Polar Express train events. Works as support to the on-duty officer for security/safety needs. Maintains awareness of fire notification and evacuation plans and the use of fire extinguishing equipment. Maintains awareness of emergency medical notification procedures. Maintains professional communication with local Law Enforcement and other designated officials. Handles medical, fire, security, and safety situations calmly and professionally. Interact in a non-confrontational manner with guests, employees, and other designated officials, always keeping guest service in mind while interacting. Communicates professionally via handheld radio, following established radio usage procedures. Assists in the investigation of any guest or employee complaints or incidents. Observes and resolve situations within your limit of control and guidelines established by Risk Management. Accurately and professionally Reports incidents by preparing written reports of all shift activities/incidents; reports must be detailed in times, dates, names and/or descriptions of people involved in incidents, detailed descriptions of those incidents that refrain from personal comment, accurately and professionally. Maintains open lines of communication, at all times, informing on-duty officer, and /or supervisor and Risk Director of all incidents no matter the severity. Adheres to all safety, Risk Management, and environmental policies. Works productively under minimal supervision. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office programs. Must be guest service-oriented. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of GCR Property including rooms and hotel layout. Knowledge of Xanterra/Grand Canyon Railway guest services with the ability to convey information to the guests. Previous experience in guest services, safety/security, or law enforcement. Bi-lingual (English Spanish) language skills. Physical Requirements include: Constantly standing, walking, listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking. Frequently sitting. Occasionally handling, reaching outward and above shoulder, climbing, crawling, squatting/kneeling, bending, lifting/carrying items weighing over 100lbs, pushing/pulling items weighing up to 100lbs.
