Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety Manager to oversee the safety and compliance efforts for a fleet of over 100 drivers at a client's trucking company in Maumee, OH. The Safety Manager will play a critical role in ensuring adherence to established safety protocols and regulatory standards, while fostering a culture of safety across the organization. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic transportation environment, driving initiatives that prioritize safety, compliance, and risk management.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
+ Safety Program Development: Design, implement, and manage comprehensive safety policies and procedures to protect drivers and vehicles.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly DOT and FMCSA standards.
+ Accident and Incident Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations into accidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures to prevent future incidents.
+ Safety Audits and Inspections: Perform regular audits of vehicles and equipment to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
+ Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety training, compliance activities, incidents, and inspections. Prepare and submit required compliance reports to regulatory bodies.
+ Driver Support and Training: Address safety concerns from drivers, provide guidance on safe driving practices, and resolve safety-related complaints.
+ Risk Management: Evaluate potential risks and hazards, developing strategies to mitigate them.
+ Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and advancements in safety technology to enhance safety programs.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
+ Proven experience managing DOT and FMCSA policies and procedures.
+ Familiarity with dispatch software such as LME is preferred.
+ Background in transportation or logistics with a focus on safety management.
+ Strong attention to detail to ensure all safety measures and documentation are accurate and effective.
+ Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) are highly desirable.
