Job DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Safety Manager is responsible for working with all team members in the organization to develop and maintain a world class safety organization, where safety is highly valued and safe behaviors are consistently applied, including all company injury prevention activities, general awareness campaigns, OSHA required compliance programs and other behavioral based safety programs as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Work with location management to implement all aspects of the company safety program
Ensure compliance with all OSHA and other Federal, State and Local safety rules and regulations
Conduct hazard analysis, compliance and safety audits
Create strategies that build awareness and create engagement around safety
Support and educate department managers, supervisors and leads on safety topics so they are able to coach their respective departments on safe work practices
Assist Corporate Safety Director with implementation of company-wide safety programs
Work with managers and supervisors to conduct safety incident investigations
Develop and sustain an effective safety committee
Attend training and seminars on current Health and Safety regulations and Programs
Manage locations workers compensation cases
Work with local clinics to coordinate return to work and light duty
Assist human resources, supervisors and managers with team member counseling/coaching and discipline related to unsafe acts
Provide the resources, education and tools to empower leads, supervisors and managers to take responsibility for safety
Develop or prepare safety work rules, policies, procedures, etc.
Suggest improvements to existing programs; continuously improve the quality of all support activities
Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Safety or related degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Required Experience:
5+ years of safety management experience
Preferred:
Experience with a Safety or Risk Management Information System is desirable. Bilingual English/Spanish is desirable.
Working knowledge of environmental regulations
Experience with workers compensation claims management.
