Available Shift:

Primarily Monday- Friday: 8am - 5pmMay need to work on weekends, holidays, or alternative shifts for specific occassionsNon-traditional work schedules will almost always be planned and coordinated in advance

Responsibilities

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for managing the facility’s safety and health programs concerning injury prevention, compliance improvements, and enhanced employee engagement.Actively participates in all location employee led team projects

Communicates team projects to peers and location leadersServes as the location Subject Matter Expert on Behavior Based Safety (BBS) and trains co-workers on the BBS ProgramConducts (when appropriate) Safety Training (Monthly, Refresher, Initial, etc.)  for peers, new hires, visitors, and vendorsAudits On-The-Job Training for gaps and identifies and helps correct gaps identified in the On-The-Job Training programsParticipates in Tier I and Tier II Sessions and updates safety board and safety related follow-ups identified during the sessionsTrains leaders and peers on the 1 on 1 Engagements and Near Miss Reporting ProgramsAnalyzes data generated by existing programs to identify trends and improvement opportunitiesFollows-up on Safety Flashes/Alerts from other locationsCompletes site-specific standard work activities assigned Executes other tasks aligned with the compliance, injury prevention, and employee engagement initiativesImmediately addresses and reports safety issues or hazardsMaintains excellent safety recordMaintains excellent attendance recordPerforms other duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or GEDAssociates/BA/BS in Business Administration or related field or equivalent, preferredExperience working in an industrial/manufacturing/warehouse environmentOSHA training and/or certification, preferred.Baseline knowledge of programs such as Lockout Tagout, PPE, Machine Guarding, Forklift Safety, Behavior Based Safety, 1 on 1 Engagements, Employee Led Teams, etc.Demonstrated self-compliance with company policies and procedures. Effective interpersonal skills, leadership experience, and coaching skillsComputer literate (Microsoft Office, preferred)Effective communicate both verbally and written with internal associates and external suppliersPassionate about safety as it relates to employee engagements, compliance, and injury prevention

 

This position is located in a manufacturing location. Physical requirements will include but are not limited to:

 

Standing for lengthy periods of time (frequent)Sitting for extended periods of time (frequent)Climbing up/down stairs/ladders/platforms (occasional)Working in a manufacturing environment that includes periods of hot and cold weather, dust, noise above 85 dBA, occasional odors, and moving equipment (frequent)Working at ground level (frequent)Working outside the manufacturing plant – outside property (occasional)Working inside the manufacturing plant (frequent)Roof access (occasional)

The Macon plant was built in 1967. It manufactures egg cartons, lunch trays, and shake trays. The Macon plant has approximately 218 employees. Macon was awarded World-Class Safety in  2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Macon also received the Operational Performance Plant of the year in 2015 and 2016 and Food Plant of the Year in 2016.
