As the Safety and Security Guard, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day safety functions that keep the park running smoothly. Job Summary: A safety and security guard is responsible for patrolling assigned areas to identify and respond to potential risks, including intrusions, fires, and medical emergencies. They conduct various inspections, maintain a safe environment for guests and employees, and adhere to company policies while providing excellent customer service. The role requires flexibility to handle both routine tasks and unexpected situations, such as responding to alarms, injuries, or acts of vandalism, while maintaining a professional demeanor and liaising with law enforcement agencies when necessary. The Details: Position Type: Seasonal Season Dates: April 2025 - October/November 2025 Pay: $19.25/hour Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Why Yellowstone National Park? Responsibilities Patrol assigned buildings and grounds to observe and identify potential safety/security risks. Respond to all intrusion and fire alarms and assist in implementing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) procedures within assigned location. Respond to medical emergencies and provide care within scope of training. Observe, report, and document any violations of policies, rules, regulations, and laws governing the location. Perform pre-opening and monthly safety inspections of all buildings, fire extinguisher inspections, and point-of-sales tamper inspections. Adhere to all company policies and procedures as well as standards of conduct, ethics, attendance, punctuality and appearance. Perform various duties related to ensuring continued excellent internal/external guest service. Maintain liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement/fire agencies regarding security or fire/safety issues. Qualifications Must be able to successfully pass a background check as well as a pre-employment drug test. Must be honest, mature, pleasant, self-starting, responsible, friendly, and neat. Must perform all duties in a mature, professional manner,displaying good judgment, diplomacy, objectivity, and sound conflict/crisis intervention and problem solving skills. Must be able to effectively perform duties in a highly stressful or crisis situations and work under pressure without the loss of composure. Must be at least 21 years of age when they begin employment and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must be prepared to work nights, swings, and rotating schedules. Must be proficient in typing, have basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and out look, typing at least 30 wpm), and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be prepared to use first aid, CPR and using an AED machine (training provided). Must have or be able to obtain CPR, first aid, and AED certification through the American Heart Association. (Paid training available through Xanterra). Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively via two-way radio,cell-phone and any other means with a diverse population. Must be able to quickly learn the layout of the assigned location, established policies, procedures and location specific duties. Physical Requirements include: Must be willing and able to work any shift (day, afternoon, and overnight). Must be able to work continuously up to twelve hours and, must be able to work a rotating schedule or swing shifts. Requires frequent standing and foot patrol for up to twelve hours. and requires occasional climbing, sitting, stooping, bending, and/or kneeling. Must be able to respond in a safe and prompt manner to emergency situations. This may require jogging long distances as well as climbing multiple flights of stairs while carrying a fire extinguisher. Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds without assistance. Ability to lift more than 40 pounds with assistance. Must be able to shovel snow/gravel during times of inclement weather. Requires the ability to operate a snowmobile. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds infrequently (e.g. assist emergency medical personnel with loading/unloading patients into and out of ambulances).
