BAE Systems is seeking a Safety, Health, & Environmental Specialist. In this role as a Safety, Health, & Environmental (SH&E) Specialist, you will report to the Site Safety Manager. You'll support, promote, and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by coordinating safe performance of tasks associated with the site mission by constantly interfacing with supervision and site personnel on safe work practices, hazard identification and elimination.
Included duties as the SHE Specialist:
+ Identifying hazardous workplace conditions, including inspection of machinery and equipment to ensure safety and health compliance.
+ Investigating, preparing, and forwarding reports on safety health and environmental related incidents and near misses and other incidents as required.
+ Performing a team approach to Root Cause Analysis, utilizing defined methodologies to identify causes and preventive measures.
+ Coordinating and executing OSHA health and safety trainings for the craft personnel in the shipyard.
+ Conducting new hire orientation for onboarding employees.
+ Performing risk and ergonomic assessments and recommending improvements.
+ Reviewing plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine if safety health and environmental requirements have been met.
+ Collecting samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances.
+ Removing hazards and/or protecting employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).
+ Monitoring, training, and reporting on compliance issues pertaining to federal, state, local and corporate safety, health, and environmental regulations.
+ Assisting with maintaining safety health and environmental metrics.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Typically requires an Associate's Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a related discipline, and two (2) years of safety and health work experience related to OSHA regulations, or the overall equivalent.
+ Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
+ Highly effective communication skills, written and verbal.
+ Ability to coach, mentor, and guide others in related SH&E best practices.
+ Computer skills to work proficiently in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related industry software applications.
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Bachelor's degree in related field.
+ Certification as an ASP, CSP, CIH.
+ OSHA Authorized trainer.
+ Possess basic knowledge of Safety Management System (ISO 45001).
+ Experience in Safety and Health programs supporting heavy manufacturing.
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $57866 - $98372
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
