Summary of Role:
The Financial Modeller will form part of the M&A and Partnerships team, supporting the preparation, building, and optimization of financial models to support commercial functions, including Mainstream’s energy trading and aggregation business. In conjunction with other team members, this role will help support the modelling process from the Mainstream side as it relates to all tariff structuring and pricing, project finance, valuation and M&A activities.
The role will provide first-hand exposure to new and innovative tariff pricing structures and aggregation across a portfolio of generation assets as Mainstream rolls out its aggregation business strategy as well as project finance and M&A activities.
The role would suit an ambitious candidate keen to establish a strong foundation within financial modelling before progressing to take more responsibility for project financing or M&A work and commercial negotiations.
What you will do:
Design, build and maintain highly complex financial models for renewable energy projects including: Analysis of cash flows Ability to audit/sense check a financial model quickly and succinctly to ensure outputs are reasonable in order to make quick, correct commercial decisions Ability to challenge those providing inputs to ensure an accurate representation of the risks and rewards is prepared and presented Pricing of PPA tariffs, including assisting in the development and pricing of new and innovative offtake products blended across multiple generation technologies and projects Support the acquisition, investment, tender, bidding and financial close activities of multi-billion Rand projects Contribute towards commercial negotiations and assumptions included within such models, highlighting potential efficiencies/risk areas on acquisitions, investments, disposals & associated funding activities Support other teams in the commercial department with relevant financial analysis Accurate management of information flows used to maintain financial models Take responsibility for structural integrity and functionality of models including accounting, tax and regulatory requirements of various markets Perform market analysis to support key project finance and M&A activities Work internally as part of multi-functional teams to assess markets and projects as required Clear financial analysis and communication of results
What we require:
At least 1-3 years of financial modelling experience Renewable Energy or wider energy industry experience is desirable Robust financial analysis and excellent understanding of financial statement Ability to analyse qualitative & quantitative information for decision making purposes Commercial acumen and ability to highlight potential efficiencies/areas of concern within models that require further analysis or support. Must be self-motivated and be able to take initiative Ability to work within a team and support other departments, as required. Strong communication skills Proficient with MS Excel and MS Office Suite. Knowledge of VBA is an advantageWhat we offer:
