Job Summary: This position is responsible for staffing, training, and supervising the productivity and performance management of employees. The RV Park and Kennel Manager will serve as the principal manager of the department and will make all final decisions under the direction of the Lodging Director regarding all areas concerning the welfare and safety of its guests, and its employees within this department. Responsibilities Responsibilities: Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement and Core Values. Follow directions given by a qualified source (Director of Lodging). Knowledgeable train all employees to be knowledgeable of the Grand Canyon Railway property, the train experience, and the surrounding areas to communicate accurately and intelligently to our guests. Maintains a level of acceptable performance; completes tasks in a professional, productive, and efficient manner; follows and enforces all policies and procedures regarding cash handling, environmental, and all other policies and procedures of Grand Canyon Railway. Communicates intelligently, professionally, and positively with peers, subordinates, and the public, (customers, potential customers, business associates, etc.) Executes and successfully trains staff in the proper usage of the properties retail management system (Raymark), as well as the property management software (Opera) in completing any and all transactions necessary related to a reservation; Ability to keep all RV sites in working condition and ensures staff follows set standards for opening/closing sites at all times. Must be willing and able to perform all functions of operation, performing front-line duties when needed including registration, retail, kennel cleaning, etc. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a public setting to make critical decisions quickly and decisively. Works with Human Resources to execute and complete all functions related to the hiring of personnel, interviewing applicants, training, documenting, evaluating (HIGS & yearly), monitoring work performance regularly, intervening, and re-training when necessary. Responsible for creating schedules in a timely, efficient manner while adhering to the department’s budget allowance, must be willing to cover extra shifts personally when needed to maintain established store/kennel hours. Recognizes and remedy’s within GCR policies and procedures, any problems or issues with subordinates, and the ability to professionally execute all related functions regarding any and all disciplinary actions involving subordinates, these functions include counseling, documentation for HR, follow-up, etc. Maintains high standards set for this department regarding customer service, efficiency, cleanliness, accuracy, and promptness; response to all issues from accounting, and guest services while complying with GCR company policies and procedures. Delegates tasks to appropriate personnel; following up to make sure tasks are completed correctly and efficiently. Completes all “back office” ( Raymark) duties, updates Kronos daily while monitoring tardiness and deficiencies, keeps accurate documentation of all issues performs monthly reports promptly; conducts or delegates monthly safety training along with making sure all staff has completed any other company required training within the appropriate timeline. Assign a safety person to attend monthly meetings. Maintains the high standards set in the kennel area regarding the guest’s safety, administering of medications, documentation, cleanliness, customer service, etc. Responsible for the timely processing of orders, and keeping the store supplied with the appropriate number of products.; Making sure all product presentation displays meet or exceed Xanterra retail standards while striving to receive an exceptional grade on all inspections. Responsible for scheduling, preparing and conducting annual (or semi-annual) company inventories of all retail products. Responsible for consistently monitoring inventory of available RV sites (available vs. sold, future inventories, bookings, groups, special events, possible over-bookings, etc. Create and maintain (for ordering purposes) acceptable pars for all equipment and materials essential to RV Park operations including staff uniforms, registration cards, room keys, office products, and any and all purchasing through our purchasing department. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in business, hospitality management, parks, and recreation. Or equivalate working experience in management. Preferably in the hospitality industry Execute and complete all functions related to all disciplinary action involving employees, including conversations, documentation for Human Resources Dept., follow-up, etc. Working knowledge of cost controls, schedules, ordering supplies, and monthly reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Precious experience in cash handling or credit card payments. Possess a valid/clear Arizona driver’s license and ability to comply with Xanterra/GCR vehicle operation policy. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience RV Park/Kennel or retail operation. Knowledge of the hospitality industry and Grand Canyon Railway. Knowledge of the Williams/ Grand Canyon area. Experience in hotel or RV site Property Management Systems and Retail Point of Sales. Retail Experience. Kennel Experience. Physical Requirements include: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, using eye/hand coordination, handling, and wrist motion. Frequently walk and lift or carry up to 10 lbs. Occasionally sit, handle, reach outward, reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel, lift/carry and push or pull up to 100lbs.
