The Compliance Manager monitors, advises, audits and reports, and generally serves as a resource to the Compliance Auditing Vendor (CAV) and CommonBond’s Housing & Services business line to help ensure complete and timely adherence to all compliance provisions required by lenders, funders, and investors in every CommonBond affiliated and fee-managed property.
Compliance Expertise
Applies compliance best practices as documents in CBC Policies and Procedures. Remains knowledgeable of current compliance program rules and regulations Demonstrates clear understanding and accurate use of Yardi software Maintains housing certification for all programs within CBC portfolioSupports Compliance
Apply compliance best practices as documented in CBC Policies and Procedures. Provides Compliance Manager team with visual and material assessment of Property Management site team adherence to compliance requirements Assists with review of site generated resident file documentation and certification packets, completion and filing requirements are met Perform other duties as assigned
Supports Property Management
Provides ongoing support, as assigned by Compliance Manager, for certification completeness Interviews residents and timely processes certifications in accordance with CBC policies and procedures Provides regular updates to Property Management Regional Manager on-site support advancement Assists, as assigned by Compliance Manager, on pre-audit and post-audit needs
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of 2-3 years of compliance-related affordable housing experience; compliance technician, compliance specialist, site manager or other position which required processing of household paperwork with HUD or Tax Credit programs. Show knowledge and experience with typical affordable housing financing tools including Yardi Voyager. Ability to discern requirements of, and implement tools to comply with, local programs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly related to layered, technical compliance. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while remaining highly attentive to detail. Demonstrated leadership that values diversity of thought, backgrounds and perspectives. Proficient in Yardi and PC applications, including Rent Café, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point & Microsoft Outlook. Remain knowledgeable of industry best practices, federal, state and local regulations; fair housing laws, rulings, and regulations and advise DC on required updates, providing input on potential new policies and/or procedures ensuring full regulatory compliance.
Certifications
Current certification for compliance related to Section 42 - Low-Income Housing Tax Credits or willing to obtain within 90 days. Certified Occupancy Specialist or willing obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to enter data into a computer. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Ability to complete large filing projects
Working Conditions
Ability to travel independently to properties within the CommonBond service area. Travel within the portfolio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and South Dakota will be required.
