Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Routing Manager leads a team of routers and is responsible for strategically planning, organizing, and managing transportation routes to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role will collaborate with various departments such as logistics, operations, and customer service to optimize the transportation network and enhance overall efficiency. Essential FunctionsDUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees and manages the routers team and all routing activities. Develops and implements strategic plans to optimize transportation efficiency. Utilizes routing software and tools to analyze data, identify opportunities for improvement, and adjust routes accordingly.Analyzes transportation costs and identifies and implements cost saving opportunities.Implements strategies to reduce transportation expenses while maintaining service levels.Ensures compliance with transportation regulations and industry standards.Stays informed about changes in regulations that may impact routing and transportation.Collaborates with various internal departments including operations and customer service to align routing strategies with overall business objectives.Communicates effectively with team members and external partners to ensure smooth coordination of transportation activities.Collects and analyzes data to provide highly analytical reporting related on routing, transportation performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs).Generates and analyzes regular reports to track and communicate performance metrics.Identifies opportunities for process improvements in routing and transportation operations.Implements best practices to enhance overall supply chain efficiency.Proactively identifies and mitigates risks associated with transportation such as delays, disruptions, or route inefficiencies.Other duties and projects as assigned.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to identify and resolve conflicts as well as improve processes. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Access). Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently and lead a team.Knowledge of industry best practices in routing and logistics. Ability to interpret data into meaningful solutions. Demonstrates a keen attention to detail. Ability to be results-oriented, self-directed and solve problems in a professional manner. Excellent time management skills. Possess strong analytical and project management skills. Knowledge of DOT laws and regulations is a plus.Up to 20% travel required. Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, AptitudeEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field. Minimum 5+ years of experience in logistics, routing, or transportation management. Minimum 1-3 years of supervisory experience. Experience with routing software and transportation management systems (Omnitracs, PCS, AS400-NTS, Samsara) preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
