**Job Summary** :
In this developmental role aimed at current Team Leaders, the rotational Lean Technician will be responsible for spearheading continuous improvement initiatives within Warehousing and Operations. Over an intended period of 18 months, the Lean Technician will utilize our tools and engage in problem-solving to enhance area performance under the direction of an Operational Excellence Change Agent.
**Responsibilities** :
· Training hourly operators and team Leaders on lean tools and processes
· Leading and coaching visual workplace improvements through the 5S process (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain)
· Conducting cycle time analyses, time studies, line balance improvements, work place analysis and improvement
· Working with necessary site personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process related obstacles
· Assist in the change of systems/processes as required in support of the Lean initiatives
· Participating in, co-facilitating or facilitating projects, RIEs and “just do-it’s”
· Supporting new-hire on-boarding & provide necessary training specific to Lean Transformation tools and methodology (under the guidance of the Value Stream Coach)
· Helping update and maintain visual performance tools, including mission control and MDI boards
· Creating and implementing standard work, and teaching/coaching line leaders to do the same
· Obtaining required fixtures, tools, work aids, poke yokes to support work place changes
· Assisting operations in problem solving issues affecting takt attainment
· Resolving issues after Rapid Improvement events to achieve desired state
· Supporting communication of the direction of Lean Transformation and daily management initiatives to employees
· Drive OpEx culture change through coaching of employees and leaders to drive lean behaviors, and follow the principles and practices of OpEx
**Qualifications and Requirements:**
· Must have a minimum of 12 months of successful Team Leader experience
· Must possess strong written and oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with various audiences at the site level.
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from associates, supervisors and managers at the site level
· Must be a self-motivated learner and demonstrate a strong work ethic
· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
· Knowledge and practice of the Lean Tools
· Conducts analyses such as time studies, cycle counts, line balance improvements
· Can train others and coach others on the lean tools
· Completion of other task as assigned
**Minimum Education, Experience & Certification**
· High school education required (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
· Knowledge of basic Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement based tools and techniques highly preferred
· Experience in a production environment
· Ability to remain organized and think creatively
**Physical Requirements:**
Perform tasks requiring hand and eye coordination, with good hand dexterity (gripping and pinching repetitively) for more than 2/3’s of work shift
· Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 10 pounds continuously, 25 pounds repetitively and 50 pounds occasionally. Lifting or carrying objects over 50 pounds requires a two person lift, or a lift assist
· Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and/or stoop repetitively 6 to 8 hours per day
· Reach overhead repetitively for more than 2/3’s of work shift
· Stand continuously for 8 to 10 hours per day
· Climb up and down stairs up to 3 hours per day
· Use of senses to detect quality defects and unsafe conditions
· Basic visual requirements for precision work
· Moderate physical exertion
