Uses aseptic technique, Performs instrument, sponge, and sharp counts. + Demonstrates correct technique in handling of instruments, sutures, specimens, and medications. + Consistently delivers high quality care demonstrating nursing knowledge and skills in the operating room in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care. + Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. + Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment. + Balances team and individual responsibilities, objective and open to other’s views, gives and welcomes feedback, contributes to positive team goals, puts success of team above own interest. + Assists with OR room turnover including opening sterile supplies and instruments. + Performs routine cleaning on equipment. + Documents patient status and care given while the patient undergoes the surgical procedure. **Clinical Excellence** + Maintains an assertive yet supportive manner when functioning with team members and physicians. + Establishes a climate of mutual respect and trust with patients, families, team members and physicians. + Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately. + Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education. + Participates in hospital forums, nursing governance, department staff meetings and huddles to stay informed. + Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service. **Qualifications** **Minimum Requirements** Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position. **Preferred or Specialized** Not required to perform the essential functions of the position. **Education:** Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire) Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing **License(s)/Certification(s):** • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or within three (3) months from date of hire. • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified within 6 months.
