Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire an amazing RN Supervisor!
As a Registered Nurse on the Oncology unit at MercyOne, you will assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort. You will practice safe patient handling techniques and continuously evaluate assigned patients, providing ongoing treatment. You will anticipate, identify, and respond to the educational and emotional needs of patients and their families. You will guide and direct healthcare personnel (e.g., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients. You will maintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (e.g., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices), and utilize safeguards such as the IV pump drug library and monitor alarms whenever available to maximize patient safety. You will initiate emergency support measures (e.g., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patients from injury) and assist with patient care duties/tasks (e.g., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene).
**Schedule:**
+ **Full Time:** 36 hours per week
+ **Shift** : Days (7 AM – 7 PM)

**What You Will Do:**
+ **Develops and maintains** the departmental staffing plan for all departments supervised, detailing appropriate employee classifications and qualifications consistent with the department's operational plan, projected volumes, patient acuity, and other relevant indicators. Participates in human resource planning by providing recommendations for staffing, proactive recruitment, and long-term needs. Ensures compliance with the staffing plan.
+ **Manages daily unit/department operations** , unit/department personnel, and interdepartmental activities.
+ **Provides orientation and education** for staff and students to ensure assigned patients have a positive care experience.
+ **Monitors and reviews staff performance** , completes annual performance appraisals, and handles disciplinary action when warranted.
+ **Facilitates communication** between patient/family, physicians, and other caregivers to achieve consensus for the plan of care. Consults with the Ethics Committee as appropriate.
+ **Ensures evidence-based practices** are in place. Leads quality improvement activities, including performance improvement processes to facilitate clinical practice changes.
+ **Promotes best practice implementation** on the unit.
+ **Works independently** with limited direction from Nursing Leadership using the Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Medical Center policies, nursing standards, and professional judgment.
+ **Leads or participates** in interdisciplinary patient rounds and care conferences, management rounding to patients and staff, and Rounding to Influence (Safety First).
**MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:**
+ Possession of a current or compact state license as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
+ Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, or actively pursuing a BSN degree (accepted into a BSN program and/or currently enrolled). Expected to complete at least six credits per year, at the Unit Director’s discretion for exceptions.
+ 12 months of RN experience required, 24 months preferred.
+ Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
