This position will primarily be a 10hr position, with shifts scheduled from 0900-1930. The per diem position can flex to a variety of shift lengths – 8hr, 10hr, or 12hr depending on department needs and always within the timeframe of 0700-1930. 7 days a week, including holidays **DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION** o UWMC serves a wide variety of patient populations all of which our Vascular Access Team supports including: • Inpatient acute care • Inpatient critical care • Outpatient areas: Clinics, Limited Stay, ED, & Infusion Areas o Primary responsibilities include: • Placement of complex peripheral venous access, including ultrasound-guided PIV insertion. • Consultation for all CVC troubleshooting including PICC, non-tunneled CVCs, tunneled CVCs, HD catheters, port-a-caths etc. • Monitoring CVC insertion in acute care departments. • Consult with medical providers to provide patients with appropriate venous access while supporting vein preservation • Formal and informal vascular access teaching opportunities o Out of scope: o PICC insertion training (new) is generally out of scope for this position, though may be considered on a case by case basis depending on the needs of the team at the time o Neonatal care o Vascular access expertise highly preferred.
