RN- Preop/PACU

Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary approach in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Provides comprehensive care for the life span of patients where applicable. Effectively delivers patient care through Nursing Process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, Implementation and evaluation. RI RN licensure, BLS and ACLS from AHA required, and Critcal Care experience required. PACU experience preferred. Minimum 1 year acute care nursing experience required. BSN preferred. For AD graduates applying, must provide evidence of enrollment for BSN program with completion within 3 years of taking new position.

Preop:
Opens at 5am-4p/5p or until last patient goes to the Operating Room. 5-6 nurses based on volume. Orientation approximately 3-4 weeks (start time 5am). Holding Unit:
Opens at 530am-600am. Area where spinals and blocks are performed with conscious sedation before patient goes to the Operating Room. Area where add on surgical patients wait from the Emergency Room or Inpatient Unit before going to the Operating Room. 1-2 nurses based on volume and time of day. Orientation approximately 1-2 weeks (start time at 6am at least 4 shifts a week). PACU:
Opens between 7am-730am with staggered start times (8a, 9a, 930a,10a,11a,12p & 2p) and closes at 1030pm. Area where all patients who have had general anesthesia, spinals, or being admitted recover. Per ASPAN guidelines 1 nurses to 2 patient ratio. Orientation approximately 2-3 weeks. ACC:
Opens between 7am-730am depending on the day of the week with staggered start times (8a, 9a, 1130a). Area where patients who are being discharged home go, patients who receive MAC anesthesia and/or patient boarding waiting for inpatient beds. Per ASPAN guidelines 1 nurse to maximum of 3 patients. Orientation approximately 2 weeks (start time at 730am at least 4 shifts a week).
