TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed in the pre- and post-operative bay(s) of the center with some involvement with business office and other clinical areasContinuous multi-tasking skills requiredSignificant contact with staff/co-workers, patients and their families, other employers, physicians and their office staff, and other members of the health care communityMinimal travel may be required. Attend conferences and meetingsRoutinely deal with proprietary and confidential informationPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, implements, and evaluates pre and post-operative nursing care for patients based on individual, specific patient needs, and according to physician’s ordersFollows policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standardsOrganizes and prepares medical records of patients. Documents care appropriately and fully. Follows up on missing data and other patient care needsKnows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility\Protects patients’ rights, dignity, and privacyMaintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge of intravenous therapy, medication administration and effects, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient teaching, emotional/social support of patients and families, and other needed clinical competenciesRemains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situationsSeeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behaviorActively participates in appropriate committee and quality-improvement activitiesFollows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogensUses good body mechanicsInforms Clinical Director of applicable day-to-day situationsFollows employee health and other personnel and staffing policiesBeing compliant with federal, state, and accreditation standards, as applicableDemonstrates knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situationsPerforms other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing requiredCurrent registered nurse licensure in State of employmentBLS / ACLS / PALS Certified, as applicableMinimum of 3 years of pre-op / PACU nursing experience in an ambulatory surgery center setting, preferredAdult & Pediatric experience, preferredAbility to apply common sense to circumstancesAbility to carry out detailed written or oral instructionsKnowledge of regulatory and accreditation standardsMaintains regular attendanceINDNUR
