Responsibilities
Job Summary
The training/certification requirement set forth in this addendum applies to registered nurses assigned to the Surgical Admit Discharge Unit (SADU). This position is responsible for providing Perioperative nursing care of all patient populations undergoing surgical procedures, to include ambulatory, acute and chronic patient care. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the direct and indirect implementation of the patient’s plan of care in the SADU.

Performs a pre-operative assessment, identifies the pre-surgery patient at risk for complications and reports concerns as appropriate.Identifies the post-surgery patient at risk for complications and provides appropriate interventions.Performs a systematic and thorough physical assessment based upon knowledge of the post-surgery physiology.Qualifications
Additional Minimum Job Qualifications
Education/Work Experience
Minimum of 1 year current experience in an acute, inpatient PACU setting within the last 3 years strongly preferred OR Graduate of ICU residency with a minimum of six months ICU experience ORa Perianesthesia Residency OR Emergency Services Residency/Experience.
Experience with airway emergencies, (i.e. laryngospasms, airway obstruction, stridor and arrest).
Job Knowledge/Skills
Strong knowledge of anesthetic agents and methods, including pain management is required.
Familiarity and experience with critical patients’ airway management and the effects of anesthetic agents on invasive airway management, to include ventilators, extubation and multiple modes of oxygen/medication administration.
Licensure/Certification
RN license Active, WA State AHA BLS, Active at hire date Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of date of hire or transfer. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of date of hire or transfer.Certified Perianesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Certified Ambulatory Peranesthesia Nurse (CAPA) preferred.
