POSITION SUMMARY
+ Registered Nurses provide direct care to patients and are part of all care given by other departments. Registered Nurses must continually strive to provide the highest quality of care possible for the patients. They must also lead the nursing team toward the achievement of the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. High quality care and overall efficiency are essential components to this success.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
+ Education and Experience:
+ Previous experience in OB preferred.
+ License/Certificates:
+ Current Minnesota RN License. American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire. American Heart Association ACLS within 4 months of hire. NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E within 1 year of hire.
For Charge RN: NRP and PALS required within 1 year of hire.

+ Demonstrates leadership qualities and executive and organizational abilities.
+ Ability to lead and supervise patient care team.
+ Ability to interact effectively with physicians, patients and family, staff and other healthcare providers.

+ Knowledge of applied science principles in nursing situations involving techniques and procedures, hygiene and safety measures.
+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to recognize manifestation of physical and emotional problems.
+ Knowledge and skills to review charts and enter data efficiently.
+ Teaching ability and ability to work independently using good judgment.
+ Ability to properly and safely operate all equipment required for this position.
+ Knowledge and use of community resources.
+ May be assigned to specialty areas.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
+ RN:
+ + Exercise concern for the patient's welfare, maintain knowledge of the patient's condition, administer medication, and perform treatment while practicing and maintaining high ethical standards.
+ Responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients assigned to her/him under the guidance of the CNO and/or Nurse Manager.
+ Provide appropriate care for patients who will be undergoing or are recovering from orthopedic surgery.
+ Maintain accurate and complete records of nursing assessments, care and counsels of the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs.
+ Remain up to date on new nursing skills and technology and utilize the nursing process (observation, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in the delivery of care.
+ Perform duties in accordance with physician's orders, the medical center's policies, methods, and techniques, and in coordinating with other departments and personnel.
+ Provide leadership and promotes teamwork.
+ When requested, participate in in-service programs, education programs, and orientation of new personnel.
+ Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.
+ Obstetrical RN:
+ + Perform maternal-child assessments and care including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and newborn childcare.
+ Plan care according to patient acuity needs.
+ Respond appropriately to Code C-section alert.
+ Respond appropriately to Code Pink alert.
+ Charge Nurse:
+ + Assess staffing requirement and makes assignments based on acuity and census and ensures adequate and safe staffing for each shift.
+ Handle bed control for admissions, discharges, and transfers.
+ Assist and support staff with all levels of patient care delivery, including Medical, Surgical, ICU, OB, and ED.
+ Perform pharmacy duties as appropriate when pharmacist is not available.
+ Coordinate and direct the daily patient care operations for the department of nursing.
+ Analyze workload and skill requirements to meet patient care needs.
+ Assess staff competencies and make patient care assignments.
