The Manager EMR Education & Development reports to the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for the NAH-wide
strategic planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of all employee training and development programs related to
Information Technology. This role is a registered RN and leads the organization’s efforts in aligning training initiatives with
overall business goals, identifying critical skill gaps, and ensuring employees have the necessary skills to perform effectively
through various learning modalities.
This role effectively creates evidence-based curriculum that meets the professional practice standards for various
professional roles, identifies effective/cost efficient delivery methodologies, and positions the department as the
organization’s IT educational resource center.
Leadership and Decision Making
* Analyzes complex clinical functions, organizational structures, and care processes to facilitate decision making regarding IT curriculum development, standardization, and sustainment.
* Leads efforts to strategically plan and implement IT curriculum based on evidence-based practices that prepare Northern Arizona Healthcare staff to maintain the highest standards of professional practice in the healthcare industry.
* Leads the creation and continued examination and delivery of timely IT educational program offerings that ensure a level of competency and continuity that results in ongoing staff preparedness to provide safe and effective patient care.
* Provide thought leadership in curriculum design and translation, keeping pace with the latest industry innovations.
* Champions process improvement, standardization, and efficient development of IT education to support best practice models of patient care delivery, patient flow, and other business practices.
* Collaborates with informatics team for EMR workflow development and standardization to ensure the EMR curriculum is current and meets organizational and regulatory needs of the organization.
* Conducts IT skills gap analyses annually to evaluate curriculum and update accordingly.
* Develops a comprehensive Superuser program to support the other employees in the effective use of IT system features and functionality.
* Delivers high quality and professional written work, proposals, and presentations.
People Management
* Manages the team under the scope of this role including: assigning, planning, reviewing, evaluating performance, completing evaluations, coordinating activities, maintaining standards, allocating personnel, selecting new employees, training , recommending and implementing employee discipline.
* Maintains appropriate staffing levels to meet demand.
* Partners with operational leaders in the identification and preparation of staff to serve as System Matter Experts (SMEs) and SuperUsers in the delivery of various unit based and organization-wide Electronic Medical Records (EMR) educational offerings.
Operational Management
* Evaluates the effectiveness of IT educational sessions.
* Maintains records of training courses, curriculum, and materials.
* Maintains knowledge of major IT initiatives impacting physicians, nursing/healthcare staff.
* Responsible for the evaluation, coordination, implementation, and maintenance of designated IT education projects which enhance the organizational function of the EMR optimization of new or modified clinical information systems.
* Research and recommend learning tools, processes and modifications as needed to meet the needs of the organization.
* Demonstrates competence in written and verbal communication techniques, including the ability to communicate complex technical matters with technical personnel, and to communicate in a clear and concise manner for non- technical audiences.
* Creates, documents, educational materials and updates standard operating procedures (SOP) that aid in resolving issues consistently, efficiently and effectively. Facilitates meaningful and effective communication to staff and leadership that promotes cross-team collaboration and growth of team members through cross-training, coaching, and service excellence standards.
* Manages class room planning and staffing for new hires and ongoing education and support for all new IT initiatives.
* Monitors, evaluates, prioritizes and works with clinical and business stakeholders in the use of information technology systems and equipment to maximize benefits in meeting the Information Technology goals and NAH mission and vision.
Financial Management
* Evaluates and negotiates vendor contracts as appropriate.
* Assists in annual budgeting process for responsible IT teams.
* Ensures that project/department milestones and goals are met in adherence to approved budget; including but not limited to capital/operating budgets and productivity.
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety- related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
QualificationsEducation
* Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing – Required
* Master’s Degree - Preferred
