**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The cardiac rehabilitation program will staff Registered Nurses that have expertise in cardiovascular disease and the application of secondary strategies. Their role will be to integrate the components of clinician, teacher, consultant and researcher.
**What you will do in this role:**
+ Demonstrates ability to perform necessary skills and competencies including blood pressure taking with patients at rest and exercise, commitment to a healthy lifestyle as a model for participates and staff.
+ Work well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to offer comprehensive treatment strategies to provide positive outcomes for patients and for cardiac health, rehabilitation and prevention programs.
+ Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with rehab team members about individual patient findings or concerns and about program improvement issues.
+ Demonstrate a willingness to strive toward proficiency in the core competencies.
+ Assesses patients’ risk factors and demonstrate ability to offer support and strategies to assist patient in successful therapeutic lifestyle changes.
+ Participates in program’s educational efforts, classes and/or individual sessions.
+ Participates in initial assessment and orientation of new participants. Assists in development of Individual Treatment plan (ITP) with other staff members.
+ Adjusts individual exercise prescription in accordance to medical history, patient response and physician recommendations on a regular basis.
+ Supervises exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.
+ Responsible for BP measurement and observation of telemetry response.
+ Assesses participants pre, during and post exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to the participant, other staff and Medical Director.
+ Charts and documents initial and daily assessments in participants’ record.
+ Immediately reports and new, changing and/or significant participant conditions (dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, changes in participants’ status, etc.) to the physician.
+ Initiates ACLS measures and/or emergency care according to hospital policy.
+ Participates in collection analysis and reporting of program outcomes.
+ Keep current in field of cardiac rehabilitation through journals, in services and conferences.
+ Participates in emergency drills and mock codes on a routine basis.
+ Attend staff meetings and if unable to attend, meet with Director.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Registered Nurse Diploma
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Graduate Nurse, or Registered Nurse
+ Specialized degree, education and/or certification in cardiovascular rehabilitation and secondary prevention **_Preferred_**
