Patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab are cared for by a multidisciplinary team including: Cath Lab Registered Nurses, Registered Radiologic Technologists, Anesthesia providers, Interventional Cardiologists, and Cardiologists. Patients require continuous cardiac monitoring, frequent physician, nursing and ancillary service intervention, and other specialized treatment and/or procedures such as: hemodynamic monitoring, aortic balloon pumps, Impella, pericardiocentesis, transfusion of blood products, insertion of permanent and temporary pacemakers, cardioversion, defibrillation, pain management, sedation and titration of intravenous medications including vasoactive agents, cardiac agents, anticoagulants, and anti­platelet agents.

 

The department is open Monday through Friday from 0730 to 1800 for routine, urgent, and emergent cases. An on-call team is available 7 days a week after routine hours of operation.   

Function/Duties of Position

 

Experience with administering moderate sedation and patient management during sedation procedures within the past year. At least 2 years’ experience working in critical care, PACU, emergency room or procedural area setting.Experience with EKG monitoring required.IV skills required.BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.Knowledge/experience related to arterial and venous femoral access/sheath removal/management. Completion of sheath removal competency upon hire; maintenance of competency thereafter.Knowledge/experience with radiation safety, fluoroscopyKnowledge/experience related to moderate/conscious sedation administration and recovery, as well as anesthesia recovery.  Annual completion of moderation/deep sedation competency and continued demonstration of skills and knowledge.Knowledge/experience related to TEE/Cardioversion procedures.CCRN or RCIS certification preferred for external and internal candidates    Required Qualifications BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date. Usual Orientation Time:
