What you’ll do:
As the Risk Management Claims Advisor, you will investigate general liability, personal injury and real property damage claims asserted by customers and property owners. Your investigations may include, amongst other actions, site visits, inspecting property damages, securing evidence, preparing claims reports, reviewing internal documentation and system information, and locating and interviewing witnesses. You will manage Worker Compensation claims and other misc. claims that may arise. As a member of the Essential Risk team, you will also have opportunities to work on Insurance, ERM and Incident Management related activities.
Additional Duties
Prepare claims documentation necessary to defend the Company, including, but not limited to, taking, or obtaining, photographs of incidents and sites, procuring third-party tests, as required, communication with various contractors performing work on the Company’s behalf, and arranging subject matter expert input.
Research claims in internal systems, provide updates on claims investigations internally and externally, prepare claim response letters for approvals or denials, coordinate check reimbursements for settlement payments to claimants.
Manage claims that pierce the dollar threshold for reporting to the Third-Party Claim Administrator, providing investigative documentation, monitoring claim activity and authorizing reserve, settlement and expense requests.
Using Company established guidelines, evaluate damage claims, recommend reasonable settlement offers and where applicable, negotiate settlement terms with claimants.
Assist in the legal department’s defense of civil complaints, regulatory complaints, and disputes, including possible trial preparation, location and preparation of witnesses and discovery activities.
Using knowledge gained during investigation; recommend changes in Company operating guides, practices, and procedures to minimize risk of future damage claims.
Communicate cross functionally regarding claims issues and needs as well as externally to customers, vendors, and contractors.

What you’ll bring:
A bachelor’s degree in business or risk Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
A professional designation, (i.e., ARM, CRM, etc.) is a plus.
A minimum of five years risk management, claim administration, gas industry and/or insurance program administration experience and technical abilities.
The ability to serve in a risk advisory and collaborative capacity for internal and external stakeholders to strategize and develop risk management and loss prevention solutions that optimize operations, minimize costs, and reduced exposure frequency and severity.
