**Description**
Burns & McDonnell's Southwest region is seeking an environmental Risk Assessor to join our successful team of professionals in our Environmental Services group. The Risk Assessor will be a technical subject matter specialist serving a portfolio of well-established clients and remediation projects in the public and private market sectors. Responsibilities will include supporting risk assessment leadership through execution of risk assessment project and task, client maintenance, and participation in industry trade organizations, and conferences.
The successful candidate should possess a diverse environmental assessment and remediation consulting background, technical leadership in the field of risk assessment and vapor intrusion, and proficient project management skills.
+ Complete human health and ecological risk assessments consistent with federal and state standards.
+ Assist clients in stakeholder management activities related to contaminant toxicology, vapor intrusion, and risk assessment.
+ Project implementation and QA/QC.
+ Some marketing responsibilities will be required and regular meeting and correspondence with clients, agencies, subcontractors or outside personnel will be required.
+ Participate in strategy development and preparation of risk assessment and vapor intrusion work plans and reports for CERCLA, RCRA, and other state-led programs.
+ Effectively balance billable and non-billable time.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Toxicology, Public Health, or related life science discipline or related field, from an accredited curriculum.
+ 4 years of related professional experience in environmental human health risk assessment and vapor intrusion project is highly preferred.
+ Existing client relationships are a plus.
+ Some travel is required, and professional registration is preferred.
+ Understanding of and current knowledge of applicable CERCLA, RCRA and state-led regulations and regulatory programs.
+ Experience conducting risk assessments on emerging contaminants is preferred.
+ Mining experience is a plus.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work within a Team framework.
+ Self-motivation and the ability to multi-task (write reports, analyze data, perform technical project tasks, etc.) are also a prerequisite.
+ Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of project-related matters.
