Why our Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Department here at Scania Financial Services?
A Quote from Ben Edwards, our Head of GRC.
“GRC exists to equip the business to effectively manage its risks, supporting and enabling the pursuit of organisational goals and objectives. We are a dynamic and professional team who work closely with management to inform, guide and challenge. Strong cross-functional relationships and trust are key drivers of our success, and I am proud of the department’s reputation for competence and integrity.
For me, the most exciting aspect of the job is being able to “look under the bonnet” of the business, to challenge the status quo and to see the impact that our work has on the organisation’s success.”
In this role you will:
• Review and monitor the effectiveness of risk management policies, control procedures and reporting.
• Maintain the organisation’s risk and incident registers, receiving and processing incident reports from across the business to identify underlying trends and areas of significant risk.
• Provide workshops, training and subject matter expertise to colleagues across the business in relation to risk management and internal control.
• Develop the business’s Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), supporting the business to monitor areas of significant risk.
• Support the business to identify control failures, liaising with the central ICS team and providing support with remediating gaps.
• Take ownership of the New Product Approval Process (NPAP), a key part of the business change process.
• Support the business continuity planning process, facilitating management’s understanding of and response to key continuity risks.
• Effectively communicate with stakeholders at different levels across the business.
About you:
• Coach and Inspire – equip risk and control owners to analyse and manage their risks, inspiring confidence through thought leadership and a coaching style.
• Continuous Improvement - proactively challenge business processes, suggesting improvements to more effectively manage business risks.
• Communication & Influence – able to demonstrate sound business understanding, working with a variety of stakeholders to ensure standards are integrated across the organisation.
• Investigative – able to examine the detail and investigate the root causes of process failures.
• Experience – previous experience of bringing a business on a journey of embracing proactive risk management and sound internal control.
• Initiative – self-motivated; strives for improvements and efficiencies in own work.
