What is the Risk Analyst – Inv Perf & Risk responsible for?The primary function of this position is to calculate, analyze and report portfolio performance, characteristics, weights, attribution, and risk statistics. This position will provide technical support in liaising with other Risk teams as well as with key clients including Global Advisory Services, Risk Managers/Consultants, Investment Analysts/Managers as well as various compliance and legal teams.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Risk Analyst – Inv Perf & Risk?Risk Analysis and Performance:
Validating completeness and accuracy of portfolio / benchmark risk statistics and performance data, identifying, investigating and resolving discrepancies in Performance Measurement and Risk applications.
Identify and resolve data issues with varied complexity impacting risk reporting, characteristics, attribution and performance.
Provide commentary for portfolio attribution and performance.
Driving technology for the team to develop and enhance internal reporting and quality control systems to help business focus on providing comprehensive, timely and accurate source information and analysis for investment risk and performance.
Ensure reports are delivered to the appropriate client(s) and/or provided via automated processes to downstream systems by the agreed upon date.
Redesigning/re-engineering key business processes.
Review automated validation controls and complete issue resolution process.
Client Support:
Respond to ad-hoc requests for performance, characteristic and risk statistic information.
Ensure client requirements understood and delivered.
Industry Trends:
Remain current on risk and performance related trends, topics and issues.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?Bachelor's degree.
4+ years of experience in the Mutual Fund/Financial Services Industry.
Preferably experience using financial/risk application/software.
Proven technical skills in automation and redesigning business processes.
Understanding of OneTIS pricing process and system logic.
Solid understanding of the components and calculation of the net asset value.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, math or other quantitative discipline.
Prior investment performance, investment operations or fund accounting experience is viewed favorably.
Pursuing a CFA or FRM desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of statistical calculations.
Knowledge of financial instruments and markets.
Knowledge and use of databases.
Knowledge and use of R, Access, VBA, Python.
Knowledge of other business tools.
Knowledge of source systems for data and ability to verify for accuracy.
Knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling and vocabulary.
