 The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Central Business Office has an exciting opportunity for a full-time _ to work in Miami, FL. The Revenue Cycle Analyst ensures that the department is accurately processing patient and financial data to maximize revenue while maintaining compliance with applicable billing guidelines. Moreover, the incumbent assumes responsibility for the audit and reconciliation of account receivables and resolves all missing charges.                                                                                   

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                          

Develops audit tool(s) to track and monitor audit outcomes.

Holds meetings to discuss outcome of data analysis and possible corrective actions.

Analyzes non-governmental payer contracts and assures that contractual adjustments are accurate.

Reviews and validates billing accounts, and communicates findings to appropriate staff.

Identifies and rectifies any special circumstances affecting delayed submission of payments.

Reviews billing information for accuracy and completeness, and identifies and rectifies problems. 

Remains informed of statutory and regulatory changes affecting job functions.

Escalates issues and situations within the division when appropriate.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions

The Revenue Cycle Analyst will ensure that the department is accurately processing claim data. The incumbent in this position will assist with charge reconciliations and lost analysis to resolve missing charges while ensuring that charges are reentered correctly into UChart. Will assist department leadership regarding the need to function as a liaison to resolve any related charge/coding issues or problems that occur in the hospital resolute. Maintain appropriate audit activities to ensure compliance with established charging procedures. Ability to analyze and make recommendations on issues that repetitively impact the Accounts Receivable for the Central Business Office (CBO).

Department Specific Qualifications                                                                                     

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) recommended with an active Florida License Number or three to five years’ experience in the health care field with specific emphasis on clinical systems, and revenue cycle, clinical knowledge regarding coding issues and patient-care protocols in a hospital setting preferred.

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders or Certified Coder Specialist (CCS) by the American Health Information Management Association, preferred.

Experience required using online integrated healthcare information systems and knowledge of insurance carrier requirements for claims submission

Good understanding of Healthcare Billing Accounts Receivable system(s) preferably the EPIC system.

Skilled in Office Windows applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes and their importance to the Revenue Cycle.

Understanding of Federal, State and local rules and guidelines regarding the Billing Accounts Receivable process in a hospital environment.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                         

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Minimum 2 year of relevant experience

General knowledge of office procedures and operations.

Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence

Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
