Residential Support Worker

Do you enjoy working with children & young people and positively impacting their lives?  We have a fantastic opportunity to join our ever-growing Leicestershire Residential Team as a Residential Support Worker on a full-time permanent basis - We have numerous vacancies still available!

Service Overview: Barnardo's, the UK's largest Children's Charity are currently on an exciting and innovative Journey alongside Leicestershire County Council to deliver a range of Children's homes for the most vulnerable children & young people in Leicestershire.

Where are our homes based?

We currently have homes in Hinckley, Coalville, Syston, Mountsorrel and Market Harborough. Some are fully up and running whilst the others are still being mobilised.

Each of our beautiful homes will support children & young people aged between 8-18, providing up to 3 service users at any one-time opportunities to enjoy different experiences, establish friendships and develop confidence, independence and social/emotional skills.

What do our Support Workers do?

Build trust and develop nurturing relationships which promote the service user's independence, wellbeing, strengths, and capabilities. Work in partnership and build relationships with parents/carers and other professionals. Contribute to the upkeep of the home including cooking, cleaning etc. Document information accurately and ensure records are kept up to date. Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to. Promote, monitor and maintain a safe environment at all times.

A bit about you!

Do you hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare OR are you willing to successfully achieve this alongside your role? Are you motivated by the opportunity to make a positive difference in young people's lives, creating a safe space and building resilience? Are you able to demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding and protection of vulnerable children & young people? Are you flexible to commit to sleep-ins and shift work, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis? Most importantly, do you enjoy the challenges and rewards of working with Children and Young People?
